Better to let the students who really care about chemistry learn technical German. I'm sure it didn't take as much time as learning all the nuances of the language and culture, as only the technical aspect was needed. And maybe they were studying not only from textbooks, but also from original sources. I don't know, really. I'll bet people all over the world who want to learn about information technology and computer programming are learning a bit of English so they can study it. Is all the IT teaching going to be translated into French, German, Czech, and so on?

  28. I suspect that the answer is "no." If there's an infinite quantity in physics (e. g. diameter of the universe), I would ask, what kind of infinity, as math has described several. There are at least two cardinal infinities (aleph null and c), and aleph null ordinal infinities in math.

Unless I miss something (which is fairly likely) photonic behavior is symmetric as to source and sink. Say a cell in the retina of my left eye detects a photon that came from a distant star. The photon could have come from anywhere on the apparent disk of the star. If we suppose that instead the photon came from my retina and was detected on the star, the math is the same. With detector C and the beam splitter, you can think of the problem as though detector C were the source. No measurement (entanglement) detects what happens at the beam splitter. So, for the photons that interacted with C, there is an interference pattern, because each photon has to take two paths and so it interferes with itself.
