  4. The board demonstrates my second thought about the wind question when I first heard it (my first thought was wrong, and someone pointed it out). The wind and the ground are moving at different velocities. The cart is connected to the ground through the wheels and to the wind through the fan. It should be able to exploit the difference in order to extract power.

  5. It seems as though "acceleration" has come to mean two different things. One is what an accelerometer would measure. I want to call this "felt acceleration". And the other is the second time derivative of position as you would measure it with measuring sticks, or optical triangulation, or whatever. And having one word have two distinct meanings confuses people.

  10. I had this question too, and none of the responses address it. We start out with water droplets. Maybe some of them have a little electric charge. Perhaps the "coil" (maybe more of a capacitor plate?) attracts some of the droplets and repels some others based on what charge they carry. But don't all those droplets still end up connecting to the mesh at the bottom? I don't see how an imbalance of charge makes it to the metal parts. Are some of the droplets being thrown so far outside that they miss the mesh at the bottom?

  37.  @wiredforstereo  Ware RCV does not accord equality of weight to the voters, one voter to another. Without that equality, there is reason to suspect that money can find a way to split votes. Score Voting for example is much simpler and more resistant to splitting. Approval // Llull is close to the same complexity as Ware but much safer.

  42. People have the right to vote in Approval-style if they want to. There is no reason to be motivated by the "honesty" that you seem to be thinking of. The point of rated voting is to use your rightful degree of power over the outcome, which is the same as that of any other voter. If you don't have a compromise candidate, you probably should vote in Approval style. But if you do have one, the availability of a score like 9 out of 10 gives you more leverage, I think. Think of a situation like Nader/Gore/Bush, if you like Nader but think he probably won't win and you still care which of the other two wins.
