  2. A logarithm is a solution to e^x = y where y is given and you are looking for x. This makes sense for some values of y in the complex plane.

  5.  @WelchLabsVideo  I did very poorly in school when the subject was the calculus of Newton and Leibniz. But one thing I remember was how miraculous it seemed that you could take a diffeq and crank it through Laplace and get an algebraic eqn, solve that, and crank the result through the inverse Laplace transform and _voila_, you had the sol'n to your original diffeq.
