Crazy how a country says they`re a democracy but the idea of having more than two parties scares them shitless.

@Kyle Rodriguez everyone it seems as they talk about third parties like that's the end of the world. Living in a parliamentary democracy I try but fail to understand the strange American system. I hear that before but I don't know the difference. Can you explain what's a republic compared to a democracy? Is that because you have a president instead of a Parlament? One guy that can make way too many decisions all alone

@leanmantern2862 ah that's the difference than. Because most democratic countries call themselves a republic and still a democracy. Guess that's the diiference. In other countries the majority decides in the US only 2 political parties are really running which is already undemocratic and money decides who even gets to speak how horrible is that. And than that antiquated electoral collage. Quite strange

@rachelbrinkley3240 'more' like Britain were it ends up with still only one being in charge at the end? I prefer having a Parlament where parties have to form coalitions. So one party never has too much power

@jamesross160 that's insane. I'm glad we don't have that system in my country. Every vote counts. As soon as you're 16 you're eligible to vote you get a letter where your polling station is and when they're open. You go there that Sunday and do your duty than wait for the result. Politicians suck everywhere but at least we have lots of parties to chose from

We had some right wing as holes and one of them started saying shit like human rights are overrated (bc of asylum seekers) and another one was trapped and caught on video saying shit like he wants to privatise the water Now he's unemployed and we elected another government. Because we have more than two parties to chose from. But yeah I wouldn't join a party the only ones who've 100% never been corrupt are the ones who've never been in Power. Still at least our vote counts and we don't just have two parties

@michaelmazey3322 so you're an undemocratic republic. Strange because Americans love saying they're bringing democracy to the world whilst destabilizing regions. Thx for that we get all the asylum seekers that you chased out of their countries. We're a democratic republic.
