She´s not accused of murder or driving drunk or smth. She probably crashed into him but even that isn`t proven at all, he`s the one who`s not in court at all, who`s skiing half blind, who likes to read while driving and answer the phone. could easily be that he was reckless and crashed into her than why would she pay him for it.
