  1. Democracy cannot work, it can only seem to be working if the body politic is continually bombarded with disinformation: from any source. Anyone who spreads lies through mass media should be stripped of all wealth, publicly caned, and banished. What is true and what is not true should only be determined by proven science and physical evidence. We should bring back the "equal time" laws that Reagan got rid of. You youngsters may not know it, but in the sixties and seventies if anyone gave a political opinion on TV, the stations were legally obligated to provide free broadcast time for any and all opposing opinions. All opinions should be clearly declared to be opinions like this one, and the one on this video. At the very least there should be a score that appears at the head of all communications through mass media reflecting the previous accuracy of the source or venue. This could be similar to the review scores on retail sites. Politics sucks ass. Isn't it apparent to everyone by now that our political system is an archaic artifact? An artifact based on humanities inability to escape it's bestial warlike nature . . . :campaigns, winner take all victories, leaders who neither lead (excepting the advancement of the concerns of their patrons) nor have the wisdom to make intelligent impartial decisions on the issues of the day. This political web of deceit is a self-perpetuating parasite that warps collective social culture and is itself continually warped due to shameful self-interested exploitation by those who control the economy through control of debt manipulation. Interests and principalities that spew false narratives which have contaminated every aspect of our expectations of daily life, and our future aspirations (or lack of them). I suggest to you that there are other alternatives. Far more efficient alternatives, that would benefit the whole of society and reduce the corruption that is not only a systemic disease of our political system, but is now the very sinew, marrow, and circulatory system, of a body politic that has done everything possible to free itself from both morality and justice: through legislative and legal complexities, technicality, outright lies, and all manner of fuckery. It is time to evolve folks. Like a cool pool on a hot day, once you take the plunge it's refreshing and rejuvenating, but before you take that plunge there is hesitation and a resistance to a state change. And we must change the state of our state unless we consider moving into the future by looking through a rear-view mirror and stepping on our own dicks every step of the way while perpetually bitching about it to be some kind of desirable human prerogative. Because as it is, it will never be able to meet our real human needs or provide anything more than updated reruns of the same old conundrums. If human culture and civilization is to advance it must evolve to a higher state, a higher system of state, which will nurture higher states of mind in the populace, not continually drag it back by aggravating the primal survival instinct in a technological environment wherein this instinct is counterproductive on numerous levels. I suggest to you that a body politic based on a NeoConfusian Techno-Meritocracy would be so vastly superior: for the state of the state, state of the economy, state of human advancement, and our collective state of mind, that any comparison to the present drunken-knife-fight-in-a-gilded-bordello that passes for our government would be comical.

  6.  @platosbeard4449  Can you tell me of a hegemony or even nation of secondary power that has not also expressed the human failings common to all men of whatever race or creed? That is of course: had they the power that results in notable corruption. I frequent many progressive forums and the people I run into who consider themselves progressives, are frequently surprised to the point of denial to find out that the American First Nations or Native Americans were not only not the environmentalists that is held forth in their pop persona in the media, but were hideously barbaric and blood thirsty in their near continuous warfare among themselves in pre and post columbian eras. Further when it is pointed out to them that such behavior is common to all the vying nations and even some NGO and religious organizations, inevitably they have to divert the conversation. To ascribe the common failings of all men to the current hegemony, though always a crowd pleaser among those outside of said hegemony, or out of power inside of it, is simplistic and naive. Which is not to say that the USA is not deserving of such criticism. The USA is apparently corrupt on many national levels, but what nation is not? True, the corruption in the USA presently has more of a universal effect than say the corruption you may find in a monastery in Tibet, but do you doubt that the young initiates in such a circumstance are exploited, beaten, and abused, even in this apparently most benign of cultures? The USA could do well to have a government upgrade, no doubt, something that excluded psychopaths, or people who are unable to distinguish fact from fiction, from public office would be good for a start. But barring that, real campaign finance reform is the lynch pin that will end the normalized corruption that holds America in its thrall, and is the most beneficial legislation that could occur. All other political issues in the USA are basically red herrings that keep the same old power-elite bumbling along.
