@Goldlung1 A country defending itself from an invasion does not escalate no matter what they do. What you view as "escalation" is really just the increase in defensive capablitily. Calling anything done to defend one's homeland "escaltion" is just rhetorical disinformation to try to affect the puddin' headed. Fortunately most of the puddin' headed fools are those who believe anything that rationalizes Russian aggression in any form.

You are partly correct. It is not a war over resources, but it is also not a totally irrational war on Russia's part -- because paranoia can be quite rational, or at least easily rationalized by the paranoiac. Russia is attempting to gain control of the routes that have been traditionally used to invade it. The fact that no one was threatening to or even wanting to invade it doesn't matter, this is where the irrational paranoia comes in, or the quite rational manufacture of a crisis to perpetuate the rule of the biggest thief in all of history, the real wealthiest man in the world, Putin.

No one was threatening Russia, and no one wants to invade or nuke Russia. Even the ancient Greeks knew that the last person on earth that should be given power over others is someone who desires it. On the other hand, the big problem with democracy, other than the fact that it doesn't actually exist anywhere, is that it cannot function in anything approaching it's apex, in a culture of lies, partisanship spin and masses of imbeciles that consider meta-analysis of clinical trials fake news, but mimes made up by stoners living in their mom's basement like Q, to be the real hidden truth. Any political narrative rationalized by "historical incidents" is just telling the story you want told. There are a near infinite way to connect dots and rationalize the constellation that emerges. No difference here from the story Russia is telling -- subjective reasoning attempting to disguise itself as objective fact. In politics and history fact is a myth.

Little groups of a hundred thousand or so are sneaking into Russia. The problem is that the future for both China and Russia is dismal to say the least. As Russia is forced to shut down it's pipelines in order to prevent their self destruction when the west refuses to further fund their war though fuel payments, it is expected to take a minimum of ten years to get them up again. But that would be with the help of western experts and corporate interests that have fled Russia. There is no practical way for China to import Russian oil, they are dependent on the middle east and the navigational choke points that are held by various states that are not at all friendly toward them. And of course both China and Russia are on the verge of an unrecoverable population implosion. As well as given the opportunity any Russian with talent or expertise flees Russia. Then there is the matter of the ramjet guided artillary shells that are or have been (no one really knows) By Nammo in Norway, which is about to become a NATO member. This and another analogous effort by Raytheon should be able to out distance similar Russian guided rounds by 20 or so miles. And of course Canada just gave Excalibur rocket propelled guided rounds and the mobile artillary that can fire them to Ukraine. This is itself will be a game changer in coordination with the "Ghost Phoenix" drones the USA is supplying. These shells do not quite have the range of similar Russian rocket propelled guided shells, but are deadly accurate, and have been used successfully by the USA in conflicts world wide.

@hansjorgkunde3772 Russia oil and gas do Russia no good if they cannot get them to other countries. Your analysis is simplistic and just incorrect. If Germany refused to buy Russian gas, Russia would have to shut down the infrastructure so that it would not self-destruct. If they did this it would be a minimum of ten years to get it back on line. Without western help it does not even have the technical knowledge to do it. Russia has no way to export it's oil other than to the west, It cannot do it by ship because it would have to off load small ships to large oil tankers in western territorial waters. If Germany turns off the gas, Russia is screwed permanently. And Russia is also facing a demographic implosion, rampant sub par education, and a small and diying off expert class. Anyone with any potential leaves at any given opportunity. Russia is a nation of imperialistic alcoholics dreaming of a past that never existed. Russia is screwed, and it did it to itself.
