The most significant weapons in the war: On the Russian side the Krasnopol and Krasnopol M guided artillery shells with a max range of about 12 miles and a hit rate on specific targets of about 80%. The Russian also have a rocket propelled guided artillery round thought to be the equal or better in range of the American rocket propelled guided Excalibur shell. The Americdan Excalibur is devastatingly accurate and can be used by existing M109A7 Paladin self-propelled howitzers which can send Excalibur rounds to 39.3 kilometers (24.4 miles), which ERCA an extended barrel length howitzer can now lob to 43 miles. Their is a German/South African gun that reportedly can do a little better. The Canadians recently supplied Ukraine with both the Excalibur rounds and the Dutch gave a small number of self-propelled howitzers that can use it. It can also be used by the towed guns recently supplied by the USA and Canada. The use and efficiency of these shells in an anti-artillery role by the competing Russian and recently supplied American radar controlled systems that can target and fire on artillery units within seconds of their use may be the knife edge upon which the entire war is determined, baring the deployment of western air power, in Ukraine. To me the most exciting development in this field is that Norway's Nammo has unveiled a potentially revolutionary concept for an air-breathing, ramjet-powered, pseudo-missile that any standard 155mm howitzer can fire at targets more than 60 miles away. A truly great time for Norway, and Nammo to supply the 155s with a shell that can reach out and touch Russian artillery with little or no exposure other than to air to ground or guide missile fire. To have Russia exchange expensive guided missiles for common artillery with uncommon munitions, is not such a bad exchange in a scenario in which missile production is dependent upon western tech they no longer have access to.

The American Excalibur is devastatingly accurate and can be used by existing M109A7 Paladin self-propelled howitzers which can send Excalibur rounds to 39.3 kilometers (24.4 miles), which ERCA an extended barrel length howitzer can now lob to 43 miles. Their is a German/South African gun that reportedly can do a little better.   8. The Chinese are coming and they have some nice EVs for as low as 9k USD but they are mostly state majority owned companies and have different rules and incentives than profit based companies. If Tesla had tried to make the affordable EV first and the luxury models later it would be out of business. What you are saying cannot be done with current regulations in the US or Europe. In fact even at the prices they are now charging, the only company outside of China that is capable of making a profit on EVs is Tesla. I mean you can buy a crap EV like an old leaf for cheap, but they are cheap for a reason. Currently the price of a Tesla is actually cheaper than a gas car that cost ten thousand dollars less, if you consider the cost of operation and ownership. Depending on your electricity costs EVs can operate virtually for free, except for tires and insurance. If you already have solar, or live someplace with abundant cheap hydro-electricity you would be ahead in one year at today's gas prices. I pity the fools in their dumb monster trucks who think it's cool to drive pickups they never pick up anything with, and off roaders that never go off road. They are feeling it. Good time to get a deal on a extended cab dually diesel if you want to cry everytime you put fuel in it. If you had bought a Tesla two years ago, you could have driven it for two years and sold it today for more than you paid for it.

The fact that the American armed forces combat rifleman still has to aim his m4 manually while we have current technology that could automate an electonic trigger and only shoot the target when it will hit it is criminal. We have tech that would make every shot a standard rifle shot a kill shot and every range within 2000 meters or so. Why are not our troops being equipped with rifles that don't miss, when I can buy one down in Texas?

The propaganda was so good that here we are a hundred years later and even most historians still don't know that WW1 was caused by the Brits, who had a tradition of just going to war with any business competitors. Gemany had just won a contract to build a railroad line from central Europe into the middle east oil fields that granted them the territory on both sides of the tracks. The Brits started the war in Africa with military actions against the German incursion into what they thought of as their oil fields. Now you know more true American history than 99.9999 percent of the people alive.

I think there may be some problems with escape velocity and the energy needed to ascend that slowly?  Also with the fact that their will be huge differences in atmospheric pressure and wind velocity on distant parts of the structure.  The "projectile may have to have a tight fit against the barrel in order to maintain enough pressure to escape yet with such a tight seal the vacuum created in the barrel beneath the projectile when the projectile ascended beyond a certain point would be greater than the energy available to move it higher.

Outside of one small golf car posing as an EV, Tesla is number one in China. Your idea that Tesla will be left behind in tech is utter, that's utter nonsense. Name one EV in mass production that is even comparable to Tesla? If you think there is one you are deluded. There is such a massive difference between manufacturing some electronic device and an EV, that the fact that you even made such a comparison, speaks volumes, about the volumes of fact you fail to consider.

  41. You think that a Chinese offensive would look like our idea of a battle. I think a Chinese offensive would consist of infectious microbes or viruses targeted at specific genomic sequences, such as the mutation that allows white Europeans to tolerate lactose. Something that is just allowed to spread as if it is a natural pandemic but one that ends up with China's opponents degraded. China can even pretend to lend aid to the populations that it has infected. Does China have the level of amorality necessary to instigate such actions? Looks like it. Would the West launch a counter attack if it discovered such underhanded aggression. If the military is degraded enough by pathogens the only alternative may be a nuclear strike or surrender to the reality that China rules.
