I personally kept finding Peterson''s gestures inauthentic and strange.  I was wondering just what it was he was trying to convey with these strange large gestures where he was holding both his hands semi-outstreched in front of his chest and flicking his fingers about rapidly as if trying to simultaneously keep a cloud of confetti or foil pieces in the air: a sort of kitten-like gesture. Finally I realized that this was how he expressed the fact that he was subconsciously aware that he was simply showing off that he could babble so eloquently. At one point he almost -- almost, claimed that the archetypes underlying religion were energetic patterns projected onto consciousness by the physical structure and metabolic processes of the reticuliar activating system. Almost, but he devolved into camouflaged apologetics and more strange dramatic gestures. Sometimes it almost looks like he is employing the type of affectatious and contrived passes that a stage magician or hypnotist would employ.
