@icourant Not to mention that the entire rationalization for annexation is EXACTLY the same. Ethnic Germans living in Poland or wherever wanted to be part of Germany. Ethnic Russians (who moved into these areas a generation or two ago) want to be part of Russia.

@nozhki-busha Why should that be the end of the war? The only reason Russia is untouchable is nuclear weapons. Ukraine has the means and know how to develop its own. Only when Ukraine is free to attack Russia will this war end, and that will only come when Ukraine has nukes.

This came up in my feed, real fake news about a fake thing "royalty". I am not going to listen to this, I never listen to any nonsense about the royals scam that still persists. However upon reading the headline of this video I could not not comment on the fact that it is a quite amusing oxymoron: the "working royals" part anyhow.

@2eyeson2b I doubt there will be a 2026 election, and even if there is, it will just be offering two candidates both of whom are the lesser of two evils to their supporters. It's no longer "the smoke filled rooms" that determine who the candidates will be. Which was bad enough, but it is the smoke filled rooms behind the smoke filled rooms, that now make that determination. Strange as it may seem, in my view, there is some hope that the CIA will bring Trump to his knees. The last pres to downsize the CIA was Jimmy Carter, and the former operatives went to work for the RNC, basically wrecked the US economy, to get rid of Carter, Saudis turned off the oil, hostages taken in Iran and released the day Reagan was elected, all coincidence right? And the new vice president just happened to be the former head of the CIA. I never thought I would look back at the presidency of the first George Bush with nostalgia, but now do. The second George Bush was right up there in the running for worst president of all time and may yet be ahead of Trump in that contest.

And it will be quite a feat if they are around in another twenty, which would be about their ninetieth year. It seems obvious that Putin has something he is holding over Trump that would be so devastating that it allows Putin to control him. Personally I blame the DNC for this, and the American two party system: that of 300 million people in the USA once again offers no choice but two evils.

This dude is out of touch with reality. China is doomed -- doomed. China is totally dependent on its enemies to continue. He has it totally backasswards. How is China going to protect the oil shipments it needs? China is on the brink of a demographic cliff from which it will not recover. Zeihan claims China will not survive the decade as a united country, i give them a little longer. Their only hope is to bend the knee in the hopes of continuing as is for as long as possible but it will not save them.

@rogersutton1768 We have big problems with the two party system, neither of which it seems is able to offer anything up but one of two lesser evils. Personally I held my nose and voted for Harris but most voters simply did not show up. This may indeed be the end of the republic. I had hoped that when it ended it would be an evolution toward a retroConfusian meritocracy wherein anyone could test for any position and win it by scoring highest in the field they applied for, in extensive simulations, psychological profiling, and experience, but it seems we are headed in the opposite direction, manipulated by both fear, lies, and incompetence.
