Luckily for Tesla, either party winning the election will provide further barriers to Chinese imports. Of course there is always the corruption of officials to worry about. And the Chinese do not play fair either, but they are making great EVs, many are more advanced than Tesla, and they are priced much lower.

A decade later than when? After WW2 there were no real quality Japanese goods sold in America, and those that were, were inferior, except for possibly porcelain and certain art objects. I was around and didn't see any. First Japanese small motorcycles then eventually cars appeared in the mid to late sixties. Most WW2 vets who fought in the pacific never bought Japanese cars. My father and all of his bros who fought in the south pacific campaign never knowingly bought anything Japanese for their entire lifetime.
