Until now, Apple, like Telsa, wrote software for specific systems, the architecture and sometimes even the components of which, they designed themselves, typically this cost the consumer a thirty percent premium over the same components or performance of systems from other OEMs or that they built themselves, unlike MIcrosoft, Apple does not have experience writing software that needs to be compatible for a huge number of random systems of different components and different generations of hardware, yet that is what they will have to do to be compatible with the hundreds of different components in various EV configurations from different EV OEMs.
So really Tesla software, written for the specific systems that Tesla designs and builds is more like Apple software for iphones and computers, than Apple software for cars will be. Tesla software for their own cars will have all the advantages that Apple software for their own computer and phone systems had, and Apple software for EVs will not.
But Apple marketing is near diabolical in its effectiveness, so millions will bend over and love doing it. It would be nice if Tesla offered it as an option, then people could decide if it's worth it for themselves.
