Makes sense: except maybe for stop and go driving where the difference in mass would make more of a difference in the energy needed to overcome inertia. But for sure, once you get up above forty or so the aero is the main thing, if you are driving distances at highway speeds. Where the mass has a major effect is in handling and performance. Especially where and how the mass occurs, such as sprung and unsprung mass, bias between the wheels etc. But the Teslas are pretty aero, some of the best if not the best coefficients of drag of all cars. Like .21 for the SPlaid. Unless you move into extreme aero like the case of the Aptera, which is much lower than the Plaid. ON the other hand the Apteras motors are in the wheels, and I believe are unsprung weight, so handling would be OK . . . If you drive on a well kept pool table -- because the only shock absorber between the motors and a pothole is the tire -- unless they have come up with an engineering solution that I am unaware of.
