The objective of commercial media is not to inform you, it is to sell ad space or time. That's it. . . . Tesla does not advertise. It's competition has to. You do the math.

@incognitotorpedo42 No. . . but a lot of them are employed by media companies that are in the ad business. Or interviewed by them. So when a director for a media company has the choice of putting on an analyst who is negative on a company that they view as holding out on the advertising vig, it is only natural that they will tend to choose commentary from the analysts whose analysis supports those companies who pay for ad time/space and is negative about those that don't in the hope that this unstated policy may coerce non advertisers into paying up to protect their product from negative spin. In other words your are right about analytical practice, but you fail to consider the effect of the editorial decisions in media companies whose objective is to sell ads, not as is commonly supposed: to inform the public. Yes the tail does wag the dog, but in Tesla's case it only effects the stock price and not the stellar manufacturing and engineering performance.

@gridjac I guess you know that before Elon dropped out of school he was doing advanced studies in super-capacitors. I would love to see super capacitors integrated into the electronics of EVs, but I have a feeling that if Tesla isn't working on it, it probably doesn't really make sense.

I agree, but solely for the purposes of performance and handling.

And to start to overcome the weight problem with most EVs as far as handling and performance is concerned. I personally could easily live with a 2OO mile range car if it had the weight of a ICE sedan and the power of a Kronnegsig, and the cost of a Model 3.

@hishamg And hydrogen is far far less efficient overall. It adds complexity too, which is just stupid for cars, but may be a good thing for mass energy storage.

@hvh377 Times change and Tesla changes with them, usually ahead of them. You may be keeping some kind of OC score about corporate decisions in the past, but really, what in the heck does it matter? That was then, this is now.

So it seems.
