"Weapons of War" . . . No country I am aware of arms it's military with semi-automatic firearms. So your entire thought process is faulty to begin with. No one uses firearms similar to those that would be banned, or bought back, in their military. They are not weapons of war. An apache gunship is a weapon of war. An a-10 warthog is a weapon of war. An m4 carbine is a weapon of war. Oh it looks a lot like an AR15 -- the only difference is in the function -- DUHHHH. . . . An AR15 is a sporting firearm. Depending on the calibre it may be a legal hunting firearm. It fires one shot each time you pull the trigger. An m4 fires many shots if you hold the trigger down. An AR15 does not do this. That is all the difference. There are tens of thousands of legal registered machine guns in civilian hands in the USA and there has never been a crime committed with any of them. Switzerland has real weapons in the homes of many citizens. full automatic weapons, yet -- no massacres. Could it be that crazy individuals who want to kill a bunch of people will find a way? I think so. In a strange way, using a firearm both localizes and announces such events -- most of the time. Whereas some self assumed evil genius type could kill loads of people and never be found out. Or some stooge would take the fall, cause the police needed to make a show. Anyhow, you do know that the extreme right-wing, is extremely armed. I mean they have weapons hidden that will never be confiscated. So many that if you really knew about it, it would give you nightmares. So if that is what you want, for an armed ultra right wing, and the impossibility of defending yourself against them, or the government:. then the whole gun-control narrative makes sense.

@Matthew Mueller The military does not use semi-automatic AR15s, that is what we are talking about, not .50 cal sniper rifles. The M16 is not semi. It has a full auto setting. 9mm is a handgun. What does that have to do with anything?

@Matthew Mueller Yeah, I don't consider handguns weapons of war. Other than that only specialized sniper rifles are semi-automatic. Firearms that have a selector to fire full auto, bursts or semi are not semiautomatic firearms they are fully-automatic. Your arguments are tiresome, trite, and semantical and really amount to nothing worth noting. No country arms it's troops with semi-automatic firearms.

@Matthew Mueller The fact remains that no country arms it's military with semiautomatic Armalite Rifles. If you really think that a select fire weapon is a semi-automatic firearm, try drilling the hole and dropping a select fire sear into an AR then go to the local BATF station and tell them it is a semi-auto. See what they have to say about it and write me from prison. You come off like someone who learned about firearms online or in games. You description of what an automatic weapon is is also incorrect.

@Matthew Mueller Get real. This whole argument started with Klonoski's statement that the AR15s in civilian hands in the USA are "weapons of war". He said this repeatedly. I corrected him and you come along and say a select fire AR is a semi-auto. If it were, you could buy one. It is not and you can't unless it was manufactured before 1986, you pass a background check, pay the tax stamp and anti up the twenty grand that it would cost for just the sear. That's the law. Semiautomatic firearms are legal to make and sell, select fire firearms are not, unless it is sold to LE or to another class 3 manufacturer -- Why? Because they are fully-automatic weapons.

@Matthew Mueller You got it backwards, it is an automatic weapon some of which have a semi-auto setting. Some also have a two or thee shot burst setting instead of semi-automatic. Warfighters also take knifes into battle. That does not make a knife a weapon of war. Like I said your arguments are semantical and trite and actually amount to nothing. What's you point? To be a puddin head? This dude repeatedly called the AR15s owned by civilians in the USA weapons of war. They are not. You point is trivial and meaningless.

@Matthew Mueller Like I said little fella, your arguments are trivial and irrelevant. No army on earth sends men into battle with semi-automatic AR15s. That is what the original statement you are contending said. The fact that you can fire an m4 in a semi mode does not make it a semi-automatic firearm. Like I said ask BATF about that. They are the ones that write the laws about it. You are just denying the reality that AR15s are not a weapon of war any more than a more traditional looking semi-automatic firearm is. You can dwell on the trivial factors that are irrelevant to his erroneous statement only because your head is trivial and really idiotic.

But you had to correct me with your insipid stupidity about semiautomatic firearms. Your an idiot who can't see the forest for the trees. But instead of realizing what the conversation is actually about, you insist on dwelling on meaningless details, like m4 are select fire and therefore can fire semiautomatically. No shit Sherlock, did your mama teach you that? Or that troops carry semi auto side arms that they can use to blow their own heads off if all else fails, because they ain't gonna penetrate even the weakest body armor or even a ballistic helmet.
