OK but what about the EVs that have their motors as unsprung weight like the Aptera? That must change everything, it seems the amount the tire itself would be the only thing serving as a shock absorber for the motors would entail much different engineering parameters for the tires than what an EV with a more inclusive suspension would. It seems that the force from an abrupt bump, like hitting a curb would be astronomical compared to a regular EV. I have always been told that unsprung weight was that last thing you wanted for good handling, how can unsprung motors be a good idea?

@JasonWW2000 Advantages: it's cheap and uncomplicated. Disadvantages: everything else that has been learned over a century in motorsports that claims that unsprung weight is so bad that people cut ounces and grams whenever possible.

@JasonWW2000 What are you basing your opinion on? Very hard to believe when the pros are spending money to reduce unsprung weight because it is the most significant factor in handling.
