A real microcosm of the relationship of the financial industry, especially that part of it involved with mass media and ad revenue, and Tesla: Financial media basically live in a naive fantasy-world where not only is it not an anomaly when the tail wages the dog: it is expected. To them a story is not of higher value the more true it is, like in science and manufacturing, it is of higher value the more attention-getting that it is. Oh if they could only persuade Tesla to pay the advertising vig: perhaps with continual FUD and not recognizing the titanic positive effects it has had on specific economies, and the world in general.
