  1. There is no hope because people would have to largely give up meat and dairy in order to replant the forests that were clear cut for grazing land. Especially in South America, but really everywhere. If the forests were back to the level of growth two centuries ago we would reduce greenhouse gases by 87%. That's how much carbon they would sequester.
