  3. I tend to agree with you, but know that I shouldn't. One thing that history and even current events and especially the market demonstrates with such blinding proficiency that most are actually blind to it, is that NOBODY knows what the future actually holds in any meaningfully actionable detail -- some AI directed logarithms seem to come close in their high frequency arbitrage of the market or game play, but even they miss all the time in specific trades or moves. In the media you have a hundred voices that make various predictions based on diverse yet extremely limited perceived variables and then only the one or two voices that guessed most correctly are reported and remembered to any noteworthy degree. That's in the case of the actual future: in the many possible imaginary futures: predictions are easy because what "would have happened" is a non-result with a faulty equation used as a rationalization for it's generation. Nobody knows what -- would-have-happened-- if. And there is absolutely no way to confirm it one way or another. That's why it's so easy for us to think we are right about such imaginings. As an example: how many of our great planners and strategic thinkers predicted in the sixties that of all the populations on earth the communist Vietnamese would hold Americans in highest regard? Or that the Chinese, whom were so backward that they were attempting to produce steel as cottage industry and experiencing such famine that the people had stripped the bark off of trees for food would be a technological powerhouse? Or that some dumb-ass from Texas would destroy the American economy by attacking a country that had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11 based on manufactured "evidence", and trying to nation-build in the stupidest place to try to nation-build on earth (Afghanistan) so that his handler's former corporation could get those juicy cost-plus contracts?

  73. Worked great in Switzerland too. And surprize surprise: heroin addicts that don't have to spend their days scrounging for money and finding drugs are actually able to work and hold a job and live quite normally. The solution is to take the profit out of drugs, by decriminalizing them and making cocaine available to the fools who use it cheap. At one point when I was young I had a job doing fix-up and painting around the house of a retired general of the US armed forces. His wife had prescriptions for both cocaine and opium, legally as nose drops and paregoric. She had bottles of them in virtually every room of the house and she seemed to function quite normally. The whole illegal drugs thing is a scam, it is total bullshit, and the only solution that works is decriminalization and gov sponsored clinics where the drugs can be had and used safely like they have in Switzerland. Unless you want the drug barons and their banker launderers to continue to corrupt every facet of our Republic from Congress down to the beat cop level, and the incredibly ineffective enforcement apparatus which has proven that they can do nothing of significance regarding the problem except increase their own power and funding and shit on low level street level creeps. When you make something like pot or opium illegal you make it so profitable that it will be smuggled and sold successfully no matter what enforcement techniques you use. It is natural to use and want to use drugs, cocaine is like coffee, only actually less toxic than pure caffeine. The worst drug by far as far as health and society is concerned is alcohol. You could use medically pure opioids most of your life without serious consequences, not so with alcohol. The reason drugs are illegal is power and money is derived from their prohibition, but the lies have the public in fear and no one has the courage to stand up because the bastards that profit from the prohibition have everything by the balls.

  123. Interesting question about Tesla. For some reason, and I have no idea why: Tesla is the only OEM manufacturing in China that is totally publicly owned and is not a partner with the Chinese gov. They are presently enlarging the Chinese factory, after having taken it off line last summer for improvements which apparently increased its output tremendously. CATL is also construction a battery factory next to Tesla in China, apparently for Tesla's use. Considering the financial media's hyperbolic attitude about every possible negative about Tesla, I wouldn't doubt that we will see much made of it, and little real difference, other than in the stock market, and that will be temporary. Right now there are over a dozen Chinese EVs exported to Europe, many of them wear storied European marques like BMW, or MG, or Volvo, but are really Made in China an in many cases majority owned by the Chinese gov. All the European sales from all the Chinese EVs sold in Europe amount to about the same as the numbers of Chinese manufactured Teslas sold in Europe. I expect this will change dramatically as the Berlin gigafactory ramps up. Tesla does not import Chinese manufactured cars into the USA, so no real difference there. Recently wrong-hand drive Teslas have showed up in Austrailia and New Zealand, and despite the Chinese factory continuing to be unable to fill the orders, an unfounded rumor that demand had fallen off in China caused Tesla stock to plummet two weeks ago. The financial and even regular news media has been attempting to coerce Tesla into handing over the advertising vig for years. What are a few thousand outright lies and slanted analysis compared to the prize, if they can bully Tesla into advertising to protect it from scum journalism? To put this in perspective: GM alone spent over 2.2billion dollars for advertising last year. Tesla spent none: you can figure it out. The media says one thing, but the facts on the ground say "outpreformed again" under all present less than optimal circumstances.

  174.  @jackholloway1  We can keep going with this is you want to, but your are only going to find out that your assumptions are based on media spin and not the facts. For instance: about 300 years ago, on August 1, 1714, England's Queen Anne died. As a result, the German Elector George Louis of Hanover was proclaimed king of Great Britain in absentia. He was the only possible heir to the throne, and the first German to ascend an English throne. The German king did not set foot on English soil until two months after his proclamation and was crowned King George I on October 20, 1714. His grandson George III was the first in the line of German kings to be born in England, with English being his first language. He married the German Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. The couple had 15 children. In 1837, George IV's niece Victoria, who also had a partly German bloodline, was crowned. She married her cousin, the German Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Queen Victoria died in 1901, succeeded by her eldest son Edward VII, the first English king from the German dynasty of Sachsen-Coburg and Gotha. To make the name easier to pronounce for the English, the house was renamed Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Just a few years later, in 1910, his son George V became king. He was married to Maria von Teck, who also had German blood, and who became known as Queen Mary. In 1917, George V decided to change the German family name to Windsor. George also renounced all German titles, as did his cousin Ludwig von Battenberg, who renamed his family Mountbatten. Queen Elizabeth's husband, Prince Philip, came from this family. The mother of Queen Elizabeth II was British, so she was only partly of German descent. Her husband Philip, however, had predominantly German ancestors and spoke fluent German. In 1947, he became a British citizen and, shortly before his marriage to Elizabeth, relinquished his German title of nobility and called himself only "Mountbatten." Their eldest son, the new King Charles III, has a bloodline made up of roughly half German ancestors. So it is no wonder that genetic tests cannot distinguish between Germans and English: Even the King is half German, and many of the British royals before him were entirely German.

  191. It was not American isolationism that lead to it's involvement in WW1. Much the contrary. Entering WW1 was the stupidest thing that the USA ever did. When Russia collapsed and the revolutionaries signed a treaty with the Central Powers it freed up a million German soldiers to move to the western front. And admit it or not the soviets were now backing Germany. When this happened if the USA had not entered the war due to the subconscious manipulation of the American public via Edward Bernays Council on Foreign Relations using techniques he based on the unpublished works of his uncle Sigmund Freud, a public that was almost totally against the war became a public that cried for vengeance, even hung a few German Americans in the streets. If the USA had not entered the war at that point the Central Powers would have won. Had we stayed out of it, there would have been no Hitler, no WW2, no vast genocides of Jews, the disabled, gypsies, and various other scapegoat groups, no Soviet superpower, and no loss of over a hundred thousand American boys in a war the nation really had no stake in. AND the end game would have been more or less what we have in Europe today. (Remember the Germany of the time was not a Nazi Nation run by a madman but a constitutional monarchy in which political parties were limited to the legislative arena. And there is much speculation that the real reason for the insane mobilization that took place was the work on the construction of a German railroad from Central Europe into the oil fields of the Middle East, which the British controlled. On the other hand there are those Americans who benefited greatly from the war at the time. By the end of 1918, American factories had produced 3.5 million rifles, 20 million artillery rounds, 633 million pounds of smokeless gunpowder, 376 million pounds of high explosives, 21,000 airplane engines, and large amounts of poison gas.

  296.  @YourHineyness  I have reason to be optimistic: LIfe has an urgent desire to survive and evolution is the prime determinant of survival. At this point evolution is no longer dependent on natural selection (if indeed it ever was). Though lame ideas of transferring an individuals identity and memories into an inorganic mechanism are held by some, I personally hold the opinion that the problem of deterioration and death will be overcome by bio-science (if it has not already been) Such as the research of Dr. H. Katcher and his discovery of the rejuvenation potential in E5 plasma borne nano particles. Imagine what potential will be tapped when the leading minds and geniuses in the sciences do not loose their mental acuity with age, or age biologically at all. Instead of educating and training new people to take up their torches, they could just go on. The demographics are meaningless if people stop aging and dying. We are talking about a procedure that will be affordable and available to everyone. Add in the Tesla bots and the advances that AI will make possible and there you have it. Can we, or some religious nut-job screw the pooch for the planet? It is a possibility, but Life itself is alive and I doubt very much if that is in the cards except as a conceptual postulate. What I do see as "in the cards" for humanity is a golden destiny among the stars with infinite resources and the expansion and "destupidification of humanity, as the physical reality of what the collective unconscious vaguely alluded to, via the myths and stories of most major religions (may they and the mindless dupes who take them literally disappear and take their divisiveness with them) become the physical reality for the many that they have been at times for the enlightened few.

  319. How to explain Russian inexplicable behavior? Firstly you must pretend that you are not dealing with a nation as you expect them to be in the west. It is best if you imagine that you are dealing with a mob of drunk teenagers who have been left a pile of weapons and deadly toys to play with, and like to dress up like actual government officials and service men. But really they just want to drink and everything else is a side gig. Then most of their decisions will make sense. Then it is always important to understand the form of Russian humor. Take irony for instance. The Russian form of ironic humor is to accuse other countries of doing what they themselves are trying to cover up or hide. This is important because you can tell exactly what they are doing by just adding up whatever they are accusing others of doing. Then there is the map delusion. Don't get me wrong Russia has a huge amount of useless land, BUT Russia is not nearly as large relative to other countries as it appears on the map. This is because of the type of projection that is commonly used to transfer the outlines of countries from a sphere onto a plane. There are websites like Real Size, which allow you to superimpose the outlines of one country onto another. Soon as Russia is moved toward the equator it shrivels like a dick in an ice bath. Same thing happens to Canada and Alaska, but they didn't let the false sense of enormity inflate their puddin' heads like Putin did. Russia hates LBGTQand whatever, but all the hottest trannies on the internet are Russian. Go figure. . . . One or two of them even look like a young Vlad (or so I am told ;))

  330. Look, I know that there are lots of Elon haters and lots of ludites, but this is something that even those with the smoothest brains should try to understand. There is Tesla, and there is all the other "also rans". Tesla is the only EV OEM that is making a profit and they have been making such a good profit per unit that they are able to reduce their prices to levels that no other company that makes an acceptable EV can even dream of. That is Tesla's plan. It has always been it's plan. What is the best selling model car (both EV and ICE) in the world? -- Tesla model Y. What is the best selling EV in China? -- Tesla model Y. What is the best selling EV in Europe? Tesla model Y. What is the best selling car of any kind in California? -- Tesla model Y. What is the safes car in a collision? -- Tesla. What car brand has the highest level of owner satisfaction? -- Tesla. What car brand has the highest owner loyalty? Tesla. What car sold in America has the most American content and labor? -- Tesla. What company has the most millionaires working on the assembly lines due to stock options? -- Tesla. There is such a divergence between Tesla and everyone else that most of them are just giving up and trying desperately to get people to believe that it is because EVs are not viable. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you buy anything but a Tesla anywhere in the world it can only be out of ignorance. Companies that were losing 40-200k on every EV they sold (most of them even BYD had to cook the books to show a profit and they are the only other one in the money on each sale, or so they say) cannot afford to lose even more by reducing their prices to give the appearance that they are competitive with Tesla even thought under the hood they are twenty years and two generations of tech behind and will never catch up because Tesla innovates much faster. When Toyota purchased and tore down a model Y they themselves said it was "a masterpiece of engineering" that they were not capable of duplicating. But they are trying to. Toyota is adopting Tesla's manufacturing tech as fast as it can, but they are trying, with no success, but much fantasy used as a delaying tactic. And what will all of Peter's quite dubious conclusions mean when a Tesla robotaxi appears and suddenly an EV is getting 500% more usage than a ICE car? The more you look into the actual facts, the more you will see that the future belongs to Tesla in a big way. And you naysayers will be just as happy as the rest of us when you finally wake up.

  339.  @moritamikamikara3879  No dude, the solution is to take the profit out of drugs, by decriminalizing them and making cocaine available to the fools who use it cheap. 362. Tesla seems to be doing more than fine in their China giga. Sales are up domestically and internationally from there, they are about to release the Highland model from China, and they have been seeking approval for a major expansion of manufacturing facilities. CATL has built a new battery plant right next to Tesla giga Shanghai, (wonder why). Though to be fair Tesla has also been initiating new Tera plants like crazy, the one in Monterrey Mexico will be twice a big as the biggest factory in the USA (Tesla giga Austin) and there are ongoing negotiations with, Canada, Spain, India, Indonesia, and probably places I don't know about to build additional plants. Tesla is also the only American company operating in China that has been allowed total ownership of it's operations, at least until a few months ago when it seems other companies have been cut a similar deal. Yep, guess that green tech will never work out. . . . But now it can't help but work out, Tesla cars are now less expensive to buy than comparable gas cars, and much much less expensive to own and operate. This despite the Musk haters and gobblers of the lies instigated by short sellers, OEM ICE investors and tier 1-3 suppliers, the oil shitheads, union shills, the mass media trying to shake T down for ad revenue and the general knuckle-dragging troglodytes that drive dualy diesel pickups and put something in the bed from Home Depot once or twice a year, while they pollute the air we breath with toxic carcinogenic fumes which are responsible for millions of repertory related deaths each year and drag a useless ton of iron around with them everywhere they go because they want to pretend to be cowboys or good old boys or some other stupid shit.

  517. Entering WW1 was the stupidest thing that the USA ever did. When Russia collapsed and the revolutionaries signed a treaty with the Central Powers it freed up a million German soldiers to move to the western front. And admit it or not the soviets were now backing Germany. When this happened if the USA had not entered the war due to the subconscious manipulation of the American public via Edward Bernays Council on Foreign Relations, a public that was almost totally against the war became a public that cried for vengeance, even hung a few German Americans in the streets.
