  1.  @michaeldelisieux5252  All these guys and Peter fail to mention a major factor in the USA/Cuba equation: the mob does not forget. When the commies took over Cuba they took the biggest criminal enterprise on earth from the American mob. Myer Lansky's various minions used to show up at Batista's palace with suit cases full of money to pay him off. The entire affluent part of the Cuban economy and it's periphery was a criminal enterprise and the businesses that supported it and just thrived because of it. And in addition to the casinos, and brothels, and drugs, it was used to wash the skim from the casinos and other mob enterprises in USA. The mob pretty much owned the country, and a certain segment of the Cuban society thrived because of it. A lot of their descendants are Cuban right wing Communist Cuba haters that live in Florida, and they matter politically. But what really matters is that the mob lost the farm because of the communists. Before the revolution they basically owned a country, and the mob does not forgive or forget and has vast political patronage.
