In the 50s a typical American family had a dad who worked, a mom who worked at home and kids that were subject to a physical beatings from teachers if they acted out in school, and took civics in HS. Oh yeah and no mass shootings during school hours. See a lot of families were one unskilled blue collar worker could support a household today? The quality of life, the amount of leisure time, and the activities that people did during it have all degenerated. And you present quality comes almost entirely because of cheap Chinese goods sold at the quality store Walmart. That has put all the small business that supported the local economy out of business and destroyed the middle class outside of professionals. But you can now buy an air conditioner that is one fifth the price of the ones that used to be made in the USA (adjusted for inflation) only you will need seven of them to last as long, and none of them will actually cool worth a shit. Now it is so wonderful that kids spend five or more hours a day on social media filling their heads with nonsense and playing stupid little games that have captured their nervous systems. America has been dumbed down -- drastically.

I was seventeen when I hitchhiked to the first Woodstock festival in Bethal NY. That was in 69. So you figure it out. Still the greatest year in modern American history. There were a lot of boomers, and almost none of us were fat, like fifty percent of the present population of the USA. Another area of degeneration there.

All you have to do is look at the intellectual level of late night shows to see that. From Dick Cavett to the kneejerk political clowns we have today. That being said I would love to see a ticket of John Stewart and Bill Maher for Pres and vice. They would definitely be superior to any political psychopaths or career politicians in the ring.
