Well put, realistic view.

That is usually figured with a 150lb body weight. In contrast the LD50 for caffeine is .5 grams. Think about it. It's all in the dosage that turns a useful substance into a poison. In areas where coca leaves are chewed for a lift there is no cocaine problem yet it is widely used.

@robbycook4298 Switzerland. Who did it correctly, offering support, therapy, and a holistic approach to getting addicts off the street with the need to commit crimes to support a habit. In my opinion overdose deaths are not a problem, they are a choice, just like racing your car in a rally would be. Some people just want to die in bliss, why keep resuscitating them an making them do it over again?

@tjk3430 Good move: cigarettes are more addictive than heroin and harder to stop using. After cigs the worst drug of all is alcohol, which is far far more toxic than opioids but, is acceptable because when the miners and mill workers in industrializing England began to turn to opium preparations because they were superior in dulling their pain of existence, the whiskey distillers got parliament to make opioids illegal in the hope of reviving the alcohol industry. It worked, in England, and the USA too. In the USA right up to the thirties you could go into a drug store and buy heroin and cocaine over the counter. That's why some call them the "good ole days".

@thomascrabtree Ketamine is the worst drug you could possibly give to someone as a surgical anesthetic, unless you think being unable to move but experiencing the pain and trauma is fun.

@richardmetzler7909 How can you enjoy alcohol responsively when we now know that even one small drink once in a while is toxic to every cell in you body. Alcohol is a plague and all in all a shit drug. People would be better off growing poppies in their backyard and harvesting the pods to make tea, because natural opium is one of the least harmful drugs, which people can use for decades without problems while maintaining a job.

This is a very naive question. Humans have always used drugs through out all of history, everywhere. Even animals use drugs. It is a natural urge. It is basically the laws in the USA that has created the drug problem. I knew the opioid street drug epidemic would begin as soon as they changed the laws for docs to prescribe pain meds, thus forcing the dependent out on the streets in many many cases. Thanks uncle Sam, once again you screwed the pooch.

Prohibition created the worlds first criminal millionaires. The current drug policy has created the world first criminal trillionaires, with enough silver to spread around everywhere there is any hint of a sane drug policy that would put an end to a profit level that the laws create. Now with bitcoin it is hard to see how our drug laws will not eventually lead to more and worse of the same.
