Comments by "SkyRiver" (@SkyRiver1) on "Can Green Energy Actually Work? (Exploring Clean Energy Economics) || Peter Zeihan" video.
While the oil industry would like everyone to think that there would be a massive up tick in mining and resource use to change over to green energy, this is just lies and spin. The actual facts about the resources needed were detailed in the last Tesla investor day presentation and they are actual facts and the conclusion is that it would take less resources than to continue what humans are currently doing to generate energy. But, hydro, geothermal, and even modern nuclear should certainly be paramount. I especially like the breakthrough that uses nuclear to bore out geothermal vents, and the one that is finally commercializing the production of iron nitride magnets. That last is a huge wow.

Mega packs are for local energy storage not transmission to distant areas. That does not mean that energy that is generated by green means is not just as transmissible as that produced by hydro. The dams in Quebec sell electricity to New York and there is nothing different about electricity generated by solar or wind as far as transmission is concerned. You are comparing apples and oranges, battery packs are for local storage not transmission.

Yep Peter is pretty much either just a lot dumber than he seems or a oil boys shill. The facts are undeniable, both in favor of green and in support of the human contribution to climate change.

Of course the sky is not falling, if like yourself, you have your head in the ground. If however you have some sense of the climatologistal history of earth and how seemingly small changes in atmospheric gasses led to catastrophes over and over through the ages, you realize that keeping you head subterra is not a viable position.

@daniellarson3068 How can you not be aware that this problem has been totally overcome? Big oil media propaganda is my bet.

Tesla and other companies are producing megpacks like crazy and have back orders for years. They are much less expensive than fossil peaker plants that are currently used to supplement electricity generation, and also solve the problem you present. I am quite amazed that anyone is currently unaware that this problem has been overcome years ago. And by the way, you only have a 12 hour nighttime two days a year.

If the first part were true everyone would be driving an EV because they are so much less expensive to operate and some, like Tesla have finally come down to below the price of the average new ICE car price. But the public is willing to spend whatever it takes to put gas in their huge pickup trucks and SUVs which are driven with one person and no load over 95% of the time, instead of buying a sensible car, and renting a truck for $20 a day on the two days a year that they actually need it.

Sure just ignore climate change, it's probably a left wing gambit to install a woke dictatorship anyhow. (Irony warning for the irony impaired)
