Good question. I am kind of looking forward to the responses to your question. Do you really mean socialism or social democracy? In 'Merica most people think Venezuela, as opposed to Denmark when they think socialism. But, "Keep your government hands off my social security and medicare." . . . kind of highlights the cognitive dissonance of the fervent antisocialism in the USA. On the other hand, it's kind of easy to have a successful social democracy with an intelligent population that can depend on the USA to bear the costs of defending against undue influence and out right invasions by ruinous kleptocracy posing as socialism.

@keithsmith9054 There's German and there's Germanic. This dude looks like one but not the other. The archetypal traits ascribed to Germans are derived from past norms and traits of the Germanic genetics, not the nationality. Most northern Europeans are Germanic genetically. Of course it is politically incorrect to make such distinctions: so I won't.

The end of German as an ethnicity is just a ridiculous statement. In the USA alone Seventeen percent of the population is ethnically German (still the largest ethnicity). And there are half a million Mennonites, and 360,000 Amish (whose population is increasing rapidly with an average of seven children per household.) Yes the famous Pennsylvania Dutch are Germans.

@YourHineyness That is easy to believe since there are only about 16 million Jews in the entire world. Though it seems like there are more, especially if you go by noble prizes, and general media attention, and show biz. Very talented neurotic people. Many wise old ones if you discount the religious ones.
