  1. I would hate to have to rely on either Russian tech or Russian support. Like it or not Russia is finished, a shrinking population, rampant HIV and heroin addiction in addition to the highest percentage of alcoholics on earth. It will be unable to fill the shoes of the engineers that developed it's defense industry, not to mention the fact that a lot of Russian hardware just doesn't work in a war against an advanced opponent like China. Russia's time is past, China's time is now but only because of foreign investment and tech transfer. China will soon go the way of Russia but a little later, they have big population problems looming in the future. India's time is yet to come. Do you want to do it with a country whose citizens flee at any given opportunity, or one that people literally risk their lives to attempt to get in? This is India's chance to end up on the right side of the future. Believe it, Russia is not long for this world. India is an important friend for the USA. They should work to iron out the minor problems they have. One thing India should take into account is that it will not have the most advanced American military tech in the future if they buy Russian weapons now. They would do better to give up Russia and work with the USA to develop its own advanced defense industry.
