He thought it was all a farce, to rob him of his freedom to chose paper or plastic. He refused to get vaccinated. He died last week of covid. He was smart like you. A veritable legend in his own mind. Like you. Was it Ambrose Bierce who during Civil War times defined patriotism as the last refuge of a scoundrel? All you have to do is look around and see who it is that does all the killing of other Americans to know that it's still true. @chesslover8829 Lockdowns were worth a try pre vaccines. We really don't know, and can't know to what degree they impeded the inevitable spread of SARS. I actually feel quite relieved that most of my family, though extremely conservative, did get the full course of vaccinations. Actually David was in his fifties, which to me is young, a completely unnecessary death, caused by his belief in nonsense made up by the stoners living in their mom's basement who come up with all these Qanon fantasies. I am a centralist, who longs for the days that IKE was in the white house and am totally sick of both the idiots on the far right and far left. Who are ruining the USA. Of course these days the numb skulls on the right who fancy themselves conservatives but are actually radicals would think Eisenhower is a socialist.

China has way more nukes than you seem to think. Some of them were just discovered last week, more of them are not counted because they are unknown. China has never signed any nuclear treaty.

The difference is that these vaccines have not been politicized by the ignorant. Don't think it matters? I knew a woman who never got vaccinated as a child, she visited India and when she returned she caused a local epidemic of the "mumps". Which though rarely deadly, I assure you is not fun, since I got all the childhood diseases as a child, back when there were not any vaccines for them. It's not such a hard dilemma if the people involved don't act like spoiled brats who believe nonsense, like their freedoms are being threatened by protecting them from the effects of various pathogens. By the way, thanks for educating me on facts that I knew fifty years ago.

Eisenhower was a conservative, but if he were in office today he would be considered a socialist by the people on the right -- who are radical right wing fascists. The puddin heads on the left are equally as ridiculous and deserve all the abuse they get. The difference is that the people who now consider themselves conservatives and progressives are out of touch with the mainstream and reality. This is largely due to the media, mass and otherwise that feeds them with lies 24/7. Fox news is a great example, as is msnbc, while not the most extreme, they sell lies 24/7 and then turn around and say that what they are presenting is not news but entertainment. Well you have to be pretty darn stupid to find either of them entertaining.

Just started watching: but dude if you disregard unusable doomsday weapons, Russia is not even close to the second strongest military in the world. The state of California alone would take Russia behind the woodshed and spank it until it cried for its mama. The Chinese, British, French, Swedes, Poles, Norwegians, Germans, and others could kick Russia's butt down the road like there's no tomorrow. There is a huge difference between having junkyards full of rusting old equipment, with an army that fights like a drunken whore, and being able to take it to a modern adversary with much better equipment, logistics, training and intelligence.

And Russians are nitwits for thinking that other people are stupid enough to believe their lies, when they have been consistently two faced lairs for centuries. But in the interviews with middle aged and old Russians you see, you can tell that they have no idea about what is really happening and really don't want to, because they are comfortable in their delusions and will cling to them like the dead enders they are.

This is all so 20th century. Lets say that some state actor weaponized a virus or other pathogen and targeted it genetically. They could literally get rid of whomever was bothering them. Lets say China for instance has some beef with white people in general. No problem, start a pandemic that targets organisms that code for lactose tolerance. All white people and some others die. You could even pretend to offer aid to them while they succumb to the virus. The possibilities are endless. And real cheap compared to other strategic systems. You could code a virus that would infect everyone in the world before the first person demonstrated symptoms. You could already have such a virus and never even know it until it was too late.

The only thing that Ukraine can win is to not lose. It can't win anything as long as Russia uses nuclear terrorism in response to any attack on its territory. Maybe Ukraine can cobble together some nukes, then they may be able to make Russia think twice about using nukes if they are attacked. Not losing is not winning.

Due to the dumbing down of the public, the tusami of lies from fox news and similar right-wing nut sources, the end of real front line reporting by US new services, and the end of the draft, the public is largely blind to what is going on in their name and via their taxes in present military operations. The USA presently has a military that serves at the bequest and direction of civilian politicians, but the civilian politicians are put in place by corrupting financial interests. It's called a "republic" which is how plutocrats present a mock democracy to a distracted, disinterested, and degenerated public.

I am just befuddled by the implication of the name. As you know, Prometheus is the titan that stole fire from the gods and gave it to mankind. Which in general metaphoric terms means he bestowed technology on them, the advent of technology implies the ignition of the symbolic thought beyond the genetically directed instinctive behaviors. The advent of man representing to himself what can be, instead of just perceiving "what is". He sees a dried field, he can imagine it as what it is not: an irritated field. He sees water flowing in a ditch, he imagines it as it is not: rising above it;'s own level, and envisions the configurations, some workable some not, of materials that could result in water doing this very un-water-like action. This would later lead to all kinds of problems with humanity called differences of opinion, especially about one of his other fantasies that came true, geopolitics. Needless to say we are far down the rabbit hole and stating that all this kind of military development is insane to begin with, means little in a world dominated by the results of mankind seeing things "not as they are". Without which possibility there would be no technological, intellectual, or artistic culture. But of course this angered the gods, because really, igniting the mind function in man was analogous to eating the apple that got another mythical character expelled from paradise. So the gods condemned Prometheus to be chained to a rock for eternity, and each day an eagle would fly down and tear out his liver and eat it. I guess titans can grow back their livers in a day. So what the hell were the people who named this missile getting at, if anything?

How could Iran capture an advanced US drone? It must of had some kind of fail-safe self destruct capability. That would be a good use of lasers: to initiate a self-destruct routine that can not be disrupted because it is not dependent on a system in the drone. Maybe it could ignite thermite beacon targets in the drones most secret technologies.
