This is all about China wanting TSMC as part of a national strategy to control the wold through controlling chip technology. No other company is capable of producing the chips necessary for the most advanced tech. TSMC is in Tiawan. Can you imagine the control China would have over the entire wold if they controlled this technology? Their own attempt to produce advanced chips have been a disaster. In fact until the west started investing in China, their entire economy was one step from famine. I think it is DN that has historical amnesia. China has its present strength because the west transferred much of it's industry to China. The present situation in China is proving that economic decisions made in an authoritarian state are usually a framework for failure, uninhabited cities, highways and bridges that go no where, a silk road scheme that was used to create inroads in other nations that is backfiring on them. This is just a way for the CCP to distract their own people, and it will work because the Chinese people are extremely nationalistic on a level that is never seen in the west, because they are all the same genetically and if you aren't Hann you are openly discriminated against. And they are brainwashed in school to a level never seen outside of Islamic fundamentalism. Why do you think that CCP censorship is so total? The leadership cannot tolerate any truth or descent at all. A house of cards.

Clearly DN has forgotten that the CCP murdered 50 million of its own people in modern times. Have invaded and taken Tibet, with no historic rationalization, continue to ferment violence on their boarder disputes with India. Have invade Vietnam etc. etc. And is a complete financial disaster coming to fruition, which is why the CCP picks now as the time to turn up the heat on the diminutive free nation of Taiwan, just to distract from the coming financial problems, and to hid the systemic corruption the likes of which the USA and other western republics have never seen or tolerated, despite the twisted world view of many of the foaming at the mouth anti-American posters who comment here.

@robbrown4621 This is absolutely incorrect. The combined military budgets of Russia and China do not equal half of the military budget of the USA, let alone America.. It is so easy to find out the facts about such an issue what the hell is your excuse for spreading lies? Oh, you probably live in China where access to information is totally controlled.

I am not ashamed of being a progressive, but unfortunately many people who consider themselves progressives are just partisan idiots who see no difference between mountains and mole hills, and somehow think that all the cultures and nations that have been superseded by modern republics were peace loving environmentally conscious ideal states. They know nothing about real history and as Bill Maher said, "The woke are the people who slept through history class."
