The salaries of university administration and various positions (especially some coach salaries) is beyond reason and are vulgar by all reasonable ethical standards.

Don't worry the planet and life will go on, though civilization on a broad scale may not.

@Richard-dm4it My understanding is that eighty percent of mined gold is used for jewlery. So it's not like it is without value. Bitcoin is the real bullshit, it is only backed by what the next guy or gal will pay for it, and nothing else. Silver is better because it has many industrial uses and probably will until we start using nanotubes to conduct electricity. An EV uses about 50g of silver per vehicle. But, and I hate to say it in the light of todays headlines, If you would have bought bulk ammo for an AR15 last summer you would have tripled your money at the very least and the gun dealers are about to ride another windfall powerd by the fear of future anti-gun legislation.
4
Not only that, but most black families have been in America far longer than most white families.
4
Mainly it is a world driven by economics and the market, which is in a sense war by other means.
3
In case you haven't noticed the NRA is bankrupt.
3
The USA is the number one economy in the world despite your disinfomaiton.

@johnwattdotca The average person has it better than they ever did. Covid will pass and the economy will boom once again. There is less violence than there ever was before. The average lifespan is greater. Though Americans do eat a diet that will doom them to chronic illness if they don't change. It really doesn't matter what drama you present. The USA is the biggest economy on earth. Just google it. If China were to demand payment of T bills, the USA could pay them by minting a few Trillion dollar coins. But it won't because the destruction of the US economy would destroy China's economy. Where I live, which is no place exceptional, almost every plant has signs out stating they are seeking employees, many for more then thirty dollars an hour, all of them for 15 dollars an hour an up. The streets are full of new cars. New houses sell as soon as they are built. The only thing that is not running is some restrurants bars, and coffee shops, but that will soon end.
3
@Warrior_Resisting_Colonialism Because most of the nonblack immigrants came after the slave trade was abolished and most of the black Americans were brought here long before that.
3
You could substitute "the human race" for America in you statement and it would be just as true if not more so. However history proves that the only lasting peace on any large scale only takes place when there is a hedgemon that is overwhelming in its power. You can thank "America" for the prevailing large scale peace since WW2. But I get the feeling you will not see it this way because it does not fit your narrative.

I thought most gun related deaths were caused by the police.
2
@ouimetco With good reason. But there are companies that are working on a solution to dependence on fossil fuels. Two new battery technologies are about to make IPOs and they will end the problem with intermitten nature of solar and wind. Investors are choping at the bit to be able to invest in such disruptive tech, and that bodes well.
2
@jephidaniels1199 Yep, government is the most dangerous thing on the planet. Used to be religion, and still is in some Islamic countries. But government has kill more people than any other type of organization. And I am talking about killing their own citizens, not enemies in war. Thankfully our own government in the USA is a litlle more beneficent, at least until the SHTF.
2
@wallaceahtone6149 I saw that doc. No gross mutations like I had expected, and they seem to be doing fine. In an event like you mention, civilization may end, but humans will still exist, and eventually spread out from the enclaves and tribes that survived to once again dominate the planet, and hopefully get into space, where the true golden destiny of humanity lies. IF we make it before an asteroid hits.
2
Guns don't kill people, bullets kill people.
2
Not true, but if you include the military personel and all phases of development, manufacturing and deployment, then they are.
2
@johnwattdotca The countries you are extolling have their situation because of the USA not in spite of it. There are cities in the USA that you don't need to lock your doors too. I agree the police should not be allowed to carry firearms, as they have proven themselves incapable of discriminating what amounts to a threat. What you do not understand is history. All great powers have constant strife in the areas that border their control areas. There has never been a time of such widespread peace and development as there has been under the hedgemony of the USA. Not ever. Violence on a woldwide scale is down precipitously, weatlh is up, and lifespan has increased. These are the facts, not your critical condemnation, which is probably a personal problem that you are projecting.

@lasha4409 I don't believe ANYTHING the police or government say. Though I was being scarcastic when I made that comment. I believe that most of the actual deaths by firearms are suicide.
1
@lasha4409 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) National Center for Health Statistics reports 38,390 deaths by firearm, of which 24,432 were by suicide and 13,958 were homicides. Despite the unpredictable events that lead to fatal shootings, police nationwide have shot and killed almost the same number of people annually — nearly 1,000 — since The Post began its project. So about 13k out of 38k were not suicides or police shootings. No lol is approprate. How do you think this 13k compares to the number of people killed in auto accidents caused by assholes who are either drunk or on their cellphones? Personally if I had to die I would rather be shot in the chest or head, than be cut in half by a piece of jagged sheet metal and left to bleed out in the snow on the side of a highway. But that's just my way of showing how the truly horrific can be muted by cultural expectations and instilled fear.
1
@lasha4409 I go with the figures I quoted.
1
@wallaceahtone6149 Well if people started being able to discrimiate between facts and disinformation it would suprise me. Like that bimbo that was one of trumps lawyers said in her defense against Diebold's suit against her. "Only an idiot would believe what I was saying." Or words to that effect. People are continously bombarded with disinformation from an omnipresent media mindfuck and are obviously not intelligent enough to tell shit from shinola. And democracy now is part of the problem because they shamlessly spin the news. Though they do it less than most and seem to have some compassion for the less fortunate even if it is misleading.

@MrDXRamirez They are not part of the power elite -- why else?
1
@MrDXRamirez Yep, and you have 40million people who believe that Trump won the election and that there is a huge difference between the dems and repubs. As Gurdjieff said, "Even God has no defense against stupidity."

@ChannelMath An etf such as SLV has real value and is very liquid. You can take delivery of the silver you own if for some reason you want to. But then you would be in the same boat as the stackers, you pay to buy, and you pay to sell. Much better to have silver backed etf than the silver itself. There are also gold backed cryptos issued by the gold mines in western Australia, but people buy bitcoin instead -- which is backed by nothing but hype and perception. Like alll ponzi schemes -- it makes loads of money until it doesn't and the big boys give everyone a haircut. I don't know anyone who buys jewellery as an investment. It's probably one of the stupidest investment you could make, unless you can buy it below the spot of the metals it contains. Of course if you are a woman and some rich guy gives you expensive jewellry that's another thing entirely. But generally even they will be shocked by how little it is worth if they try to sell it.

@haroldwhite5761 I just watched an interview with the CEO of Bandu (a Chinese firm) talking about how being able to sell stock in his company for dollars would greatly increase it's value. There is no doubt that the power elite is corrupt. But the US economy is not number one because of the petro dollar. Look it up. Also like I mentioned, I cannot drive two miles from my home without seeing signs outside of various plants begging for inexperienced workers to start at $15/hr and up. I recently got a post card from Hershey company extolling the benefits of coming to work for them at 32/hr starting wage. The streets are full of new cars, new homes are sold upon finishing -- There is less violence than ever before, and people live longer, yet all you can do is bitch.
1
@haroldwhite5761 Nope, I live in a regular small town in PA and the local manufacturers are begging for workers. If anybody around here does not have employment it is because they don't want it. No pot holes, no violence, the electricity stays on even if it snows for weeks and all thelibraries, parks, and trails are well maintained. All you have to do is a little research and you will find out that the level of violence world wide has never been lower, and your personal chance of suffering from assault has never been lower. The crime rate is down too, and has been coming down since the sixties. Outside of the coal region there are no empty houses in east central PA. And those towns need to die like the rapacious coal industry. Although they do present the opportunity for a family to own their own home for twenty thousand or so. You are living in a media fantasy that is based on keeping people frightened in order to sell commercials. I am really glad I don't live where you do, though I suspect you live mainly in your head. There is no "pinch" headed this way, only futher enhancements of human life on all fronts.
1
@ct-hv1uz Lol, don't follow the market much do you. Despite the covid crash, 2020 was a banner year for almost all sectors, and so far this year despite the temporary corrections we are way up. The boom is coming, AI directed crisper drugs will make cancer a thing of the past. Smart nano machines will do the same for heart disease. More people are catching on to the fact that sugar, and meat kills you. Tesla is coming out with the cypertruck for less than 40k. Rockets are now reuseable and science is advancing at breakneck speed on all quaters. Only nincompoops can look at the present state of civilization and see only doom and gloom. Oh yeah, and if you take care of yourself and make it another twenty years or so aging will be reversible. Such a horrible world.

You are wrong: it doesn't even make it into the top ten of US exports by value.
1
@warrendourond7236 You are correct arms exports were 175 billion last year but for some reason do not appear on this list. America's Top 10 Exports Spacecraft and aircraft – $131 billion. ... Cars – $127 billion. ... Petroleum – $106 billion. ... Medical equipment – $83 billion. ... Plastics – $60 billion. ... Gems, precious metals, and coins – $58 billion. ... Pharmaceuticals – $47 billion. ... Organic chemicals – $39 billion
