@katarinahinsey3931 Unnecessary hostility is a confession of doofusism to anyone who isn't one.

What we need is a Techno Meritocracy where all candidates are extensively vetted and tested and only those who test the best out of all applicants win the office until someone tests better than them at the the next government upgrade. We have the tech to provide simulations and tests so sophisticated that someone like Trump would never win a seat even as dog catcher. Actually in such a neo-confusian techno-meritocracy, probably none of the present political leaders with very few exceptions would maintain their positions. The problem with such a system is that it would work, and Wall Street can't allow that.

@ZeitgeisterOm That would be ideal. However as long as the voters are subjected to disinformation in the media direct democracy will not work. This is evidenced by the "jellybean phenomenon". That is when a problem such as how many jellybeans are contained in a large urn, like sometimes happens at charity events or state fairs, if there are enough guesses, the average of all guesses is highly likely to be more accurate than the single most accurate guess. That is, democracy at work, at it's best. If however there are all kinds of claims being aired that there is a large hollow space or a grapefruit hidden in the middle of the urn or that the jellybean that are seen are a different size than those not seen or any other kind of disinformation campaign, then the average of all guesses will not be accurate. So in order for direct democracy to work, and it will, there has to be a total cessation of lies and disinformation about the candidates and all matters related to the elections. Fat chance. This is why in my proposal, testing instead of elections is the method of upgrading the government. We are sufficiently advanced to be able to devise a suite of cheat-proof tests including virtual reality real time scenarios that would determine decision making capability far better than the insane system that is now used.

People who present lies as facts in public media should be fined, and if they persist -- banished from the USA for life. Bring back banishment. The first democracy used it, and in the past so did the USA.
