You know that's not true. You can go back much farther in history and it only gets worse than it is today.

Yes the exploitation of people with weaker armies or no armies, an their resources is as old as man himself. If you want to read about some real exploitation read some ancient history, like maybe about the Assyrian empire or really any group that became dominant. It's a human failing not tied to any race or group, but to the power-elite and those grasping for power and wealth throughout all history, peoples, and nations. That's the real truth about these fragmented and partisan narratives. Given the opertunity and capacity all people give rise to such exploitation. And if they didn't it's because they for one reason or another lacked the possibility.
