  2. My question to you is: Should just the descendants of slaves from the Atlantic slave trade to the USA be compensated or the descendants of all slaves? Cuba received three times the number of African slaves as the USA, and Brazil received five times that amount. And the number of black African slaves that were exported to the middle east and north Africa equaled the number exported to the Americas. Why stop there: almost everybody has slaves or serfs in their family history. Most of Europe was used as a resource for slaves by Rome. The Islamic Caliphate raided the coasts of Italy, and all of Europe as far as Iceland for slaves for more than two centuries, yet I do not hear the descendants of these slaves (those that survived to have descendants: which were few) crying for reparations. Perhaps Aramco and Saudi Arabia should reparate all white Europeans for their ancestor's barbarism? Discrimination is a separate issue than reparations. Why should a family (such as my own) who never owned slaves, who in fact were active in the underground railroad and harbored runaways on their farm in PA be penalized for something they had nothing to do with? And in reality who was it who took the black African slaves into captivity in the first place? It was mostly other black Africans and Moslem slave traders. Should their descendants pay? If not, why not? Why not trace the money that the companies who profited from slave labor made, and if any of it still exists in the form of personal or corporate wealth, then confiscate it and disperse it to the descendants of those who were enslaved by these concerns, instead of expecting a handout from those who had absolutely nothing to do with it and are more than likely the descendants of slaves themselves, who got over it and moved on.
