I always cringe when American tourists appear in Kevin’s stories. I know they’ll be doing something to make us look ridiculous. The MoA being located in Minneapolis is no coincidence. It’s so cold in winter, it’s literally deadly, especially for older folks. So, it’s a great captive audience and a way for people to get out without getting out.
BTW Kev, you should know better than to ask for one let alone “one little one” of anything in America. Bulk servings, bulk groceries, pickups the size of lorries to carry 600 pounds of ham + a family of land bound blimps.
I was proud of how many Americans risked their lives for each other in and around the WTC on 9/11. All colors, class, creed + profession performing heroic acts that often saved lives at the cost of their own.
Recently watched new, totally raw video of that day, including a doc crew that, by chance, was embedded w/ the NYFD brigade chief that day. It was haunting to see the firefighters keep jumping as bodies kept crashing into the overhang not by ones or twos but dozens and the moment they realized it was bodies. Worse was to see the crew in the second tower start up the stairs knowing there a high likelihood the building was going to collapse on them.
Sadly, Americans also easily fall into jingoism, lack the nous to see when a bad cause is being wrapped in the flag or tune to the fact that the more someone claims a monopoly on patriotism, the more suspicious one should be.
