First of all, they didn’t want to fight. So, it didn’t matter what we gave them. They were always going to lose. Secondly, they were basically uneducated peasants who had begrudgingly gone through various levels of training. Ukraine’s army has WAY more experience than the Russian army and they trained with us as allies. Not a sort of hostage ally. They’re also very educated and technically savvy. They make just as good use of our equipment as all but the most elite US forces.

You don’t just send over jets. They’re not guns or cannons. I don’t think people understand how complicated it is to learn these aircraft let alone service them, which is must harder. Beyond that, Russian hasn’t been bringing any/many of their latest fighters to bare because they only exist on paper. Finally, we can’t afford to let a 5th generation aircraft fall into Russian/Chinese hands. That would be a disaster.
