@jwawrzon The new guy can make up any rules he wants according to SCOTUS. He may just begin deporting anyone whose looks he doesn’t trust. I doubt that, but with a Russian asset being selected as the Director of National Intelligence, you can be sure your serving family members will be in much more danger in any conflict. A vassal of China and close ally of Iran and NK, you can be sure all our secrets will be getting passed along to them.

@ “Thank you for service” is a line that was invented for propaganda and many vets and current servicemen view it as such + cringe. Anyway, most people do not sign up for the military to provide service but because it gives them purpose, financial and educational benefits and for many the thrill of warfare.

Odd about the trust issue. The military is one of the few institutions I haven’t seen corrupted by the party of trickle down economics yet (though it will very soon). Must be due to IDP eroding trust from those on both end of the spectrums (e.g., those silly recruitment ads and brainless college kids somehow confusing the military with US foreign policy decisions.

Deterrence is cheaper than war. Another thing American voters will never understand. They did once upon a time when our education system wasn’t absolute trash and social media wasn’t melting kids’ brains.

You realize that’s not an original line, right? Or do you say “holy shit, that’s poweful!” when anyone quotes a famous axiom? A better and more seldomly broached point he made was that while deeply imperfect, our system was inarguably superior to almost all other countries, but Americans have been convinced it’s completely broken and voted to tear it apart.

$20k per recruit? They should’ve just added a $10k savings bonus for any signee. Common sense goes a long way and these HS events are a good example of this: it’ll produce 100x more recruitments.

Calling Dugin “a thinker” is a bit of an exaggeration.
