  1. Putin’s problems are endless, but above all political problems are driving their war effort to ever worse disaster. He can’t do another mobilization. He’s forced to make political driven military movements like sending way too many resources to Belgorod to look strong and competent to domestic problems, which has led to disaster elsewhere. He also can’t afford to lose Bakhmut now despite the fact it’s not strategically important. He also can’t abandon the Donbas despite the fact he and Russians only cares about keeping Crimea.

  2. I think you’re completely wrong about Putin being willing to give up post Feb. 24 annexed territory. They’re already paving the way by changing the language around those lands from “new Russian territories” to “contested territories.”
