  7. I knew all of this, but this scholar did an amazing job at being concise and clear in his answers. I think his most important point was that we should be looking at this through the lens of Putin’s personal vanity than pragmatic interests. Just like he said, it’s such an easy, but VIP, lens to look through. edit: I want to add, that I still think keeping Ukraine out of NATO is still Putin’s highest motivating factor. I couldn’t see the US after all allowing Mexico, for example, to become a treaty bound ally of Russia with a Russian military base on their soil/the US boarder. So, why would they expect Russia to accept the same thing?

S-300 and S-400 missiles are the hardest to shoot down for three reasons: wild maneuverability, difficult to predict flight paths / trajectories, but most of all because they’re stationed very close to their targets + launch w/no warning which makes them really hard to intercept. Meanwhile, the advanced cruise and ballistic missiles allow for plenty of time to create a firing solution as they’re launched from detectable planes and ships with the missiles having to fly far.

However, enough of it will get there and considering Russia’s armored forces have been so denuded they’re now shipping T54s that are 75 years old and half the size of modern tanks to the front. Only a tiny fraction of their manpower still include professional soldiers. They have switched to strict shell rationing and there’s little indication they will be able to ramp up production of shells let alone tanks, missiles, etc. to supply even half of what they needed. They will be crushed in at least one direction when Ukraine launches its counter offensive.

Meanwhile, they say nothing about how Ukraine has fully driven the remnants of the BS Fleet away and achieved the ability to sxport grain. Or how Russian has lost tens-of-thousands in a two-month period and around a thousand major systems (tanks, IFVs, APCs, TOS-1, MLRS, artillery systems, jets, helicopters, GBADs, etc., etc.)
