  1. The steam heat grid failure is a Russia-wide crisis. Not just in Novorossiysk. And it’s been going on for years. But it’s especially bad this year due to so many of the normal maintenance crews being mobilized.

  3. Two primary reasons: Germany has become a timid, “pacifist” country and there are a lot of strongly pro-Russians Germans left over from East Germany and many cynically pro-Russians due to getting rich off of Russian energy deals and/or hydro bribes.

  7. Yeah. And a solid number of them voluntarily too because their jobs were incredibly hard, paid almost nothing and was not respected. Basically, life is so bad in Russia, a 5% chance of surviving to collect a big pay day (by their standards) are good enough odds / reward for them to chance it.
