Love the closing song. Some local Indian flavor while making me think of fatherly revenge on the horizon. They should have known this was like kicking a hornet’s nest into their own home.

I remember the first time I saw my son forge an empire. I was so proud. He unleashed plague and pillage on an intercontinental scale.

Let’s not forget “the dark ages” never happened. It’s just one of those fictional narratives that have become so ingrained in culture and education, that it seems impossible to exercise.

Utterly fantastic video. I loved the story of the super human effort of the Miri’s temporary avengers. Poor people. Meanwhile, the Battle of Kochin is one of all the time great defenses. They were taking out 2,000+ invaders for each defender.

It’s sad you find yourself surprised to love a history “despite being Christian.”

I believe Albuquerque knew Almeida was going to duck out in the night and felt letting him go was better than engaging in a civil dispute that would simply weaken Portugal rather than its enemies.

The Raj was like “Sure, I’ll send 200,000 men to their death.”

Market Garden didn’t even look good on paper. There were many who thought it was lunacy from the get go.

This channel deserves more subscribers and will no doubt eventually get there. Let me know if you’re looking for historians with more stories and scripts. BTW, Meji is pronounced may-jee.

Sick lines if he actually said any of them. 90% of the famous historical quotes were never even said.

@FlashPointHx Yes. An absolutely cowardly act by da Gama.

@FlashPointHx Negative. He was a Sassanid marzban who rose to the position of grand vizier. My family has great genes. You may have heard of my grandfather Methuselah.

You literally cannot understand the world without understanding history. If the US did, it would never have invested a dollar in trying to create a functional Iraqi government. The islamic sectarian violence and fundamentalists in the ME - which eventually incited “global war on terrorism” 🙄 - has roots that are literally 4,500+ years old. Assyrian campaigns of conquer and its collapse multiple-millennia later, created a large scale tribal feud across the levant, which simply acquired new names as time passed. Before they adopted Islam, the same people who would later become sunni and shia already hated each other.

As usual pre-20th century, the Muslims got along well with and treated the Jews far better than the Christians.

We still don’t actually know it rats were a vector. Science has never been able to prove that.

@LusoPatriot77 Gasp, horror, I clicked reply to the wrong person.

@RobVollat Most English speakers know. Even in America we all learn as children about their empire and exploration.

Your face is criminally underrated.
