This wouldn’t be occurring if a) Trump hadn’t all but vowed to abandon 🇺🇦 during his campaign & b) the US/EU hadn’t let greed get in the way of recognizing 🇹🇼 or giving it security agreements c) Had they reacted seriously to Crimea instead of just imposing mild sanctions cause that’s what worked best for Germany and the rest didn’t feel like it dealing with it either.

  5. @I considered that, but you’d be shocked how quickly 🇨🇳’s naval industry can build these. I’m sure they had the designs done long ago. But even if it was already in progress, they wouldn’t be openly flaunting them if it weren’t for the current political conditions.

  7. For the first time, they see a POTUS w/ open hostility toward honoring NATO obligations let alone informal alliances & see a window for striking w/out US opposition. They will, at minimum, test the waters.
