  1. Sadly, Putin could have said he hated Trump and would wipe us out and the interview was still going to work. Tucker interviewing Putin was simply a signal to the base: support Russia.

This really showed Putin’s mental decline. 10 years ago he would have nailed this interview and talked about cultural grievances like too many genders and outsourcing jobs to win huge support from MAGA. However, because none of what he said mattered, because Tucker interviewing MAGA was an open signal to support Russia.

  3.  @MrJC1  The interview was a disaster in that it was a huge missed opportunity to cement his popularity with more right wingers or fool some Americans and Westerners that a peace deal might actually be possibly. However, what I meant and what is true is that merely being interviewed by Tucker sent a signal to the base that was responded to strongly with tons of different GOP politicians posting stuff like “See, we can make peace with Putin. Warmongers in our own government are at fault!” and their fantastical base echoing them.

  6. All it takes is Tucker interviewing him and that’s the cue for the base to know to support him cause somehow being against Putin now means “owning the libs.” 🤦‍♂️
