I wish there were more people going to Ukraine to help. The Euro/US volunteers go the more pressure it puts on their govs to step up aid and private donors and volunteers are vital. I am going over in late June to delivered an armored vehicle and ferry supplies to the front.

EU aid so far = less than .1% of its GDP. Estonia has given more aid to 🇺🇦 than 🇫🇷, 🇪🇸 and 🇮🇹 whose combined GDP is $7.9 trillion or 207x Estonia’s $67b GDP. Pathetic. The new €50b EU package = roughly €17.1b per year over 3 years, but even if it were all for a single year it’d only be .00207% of EU GDP.

🇺🇸 aid to 🇺🇦 has basically been free. 90% of the weapons given we’re retired/nearing it and/or costing more $ to dispose of than to give(DPICM). This includes MRAPS, ProMaxx, Avengers, HMMWVs, Patton tank chassis engineering vehicles, old Bradley models in PPS, expired ATACMS, as mentioned DPICM and on and on. And because even our old stuff has performed so well, the US has hundreds of billions in new arms orders. Beyond that, all these weapons were paid for in the 1980s. So, nothing comes out of our actual budget. I don’t remember these people complaining about the billions per year we’ve been giving Egypt, Pakistan, Israel and so on every year in military aid.

It’s important to note that less that 30% of that $61b is actually going to be spent on weapons for 🇺🇦. Most of it is going to the 🇺🇸 to reimburse itself for weapons already given to 🇺🇦 in 2022 - 2023 and expand 🇺🇸’s own production capacity, which won’t be useful when DJT wins in November.

Your statement might have merit if there was a shortage of raw materials for manufacturing, but we’re not going to being missing out on any windmill turbines because of increased production of GMLRS and 155mm (most of which is still going to our inventory).

Great guy, but felt like the journalist gave a weak interview possibly due to wanting to do it in English. If you want to provide something for English speakers, just add captions. Also, don’t ask questions every interviewer asks everyone like “When will the war end?” A soldier, even a commander, even a president, has no idea. There are too many factors to give a good or new answer to this. Focus on things the person specializes in. In this case, I would have asked a lot more technical / tactical questions of this man.

BTW, for people who just started watching, I recommend 1.25x to 1.5x play speed since the subtitles come much more slowly than they can be read. You can even go to 1.75x-2x and easily keep up.

We know all of them. 50% of American media (right wing media) is either behind those anti-Ukrainian forces or unwilling to denounce them and their core audience are the very people who elected them and agree with them. The other 50% of American media (mainstream and liberal media) is not listened to by anyone on the right and “shaming” their names among liberals is already done, but they don’t get their votes from liberals. So, it has no effect.

Great content. Besides some panel discussions from Estonia’s intelligence chief and man on the street interviews in Georgia, we’ve gotten very little English language content from other Baltic and Eastern European countries’ views whether its citizens or its experts on the war.

The West’s biggest failing is that they’ve never understood Russia let alone Putin and have been arrogant enough to dismiss anyone who tried to warn them and/or help them understand, including domestic experts (which are few), their Baltic allies and Russian exiles.

@mukhtarmd1792 The “owners” of the land have been in a nearly constant state flux everywhere across the globe. From Italy, England and France to Egypt, America and half of the former USSR, those living there have replaced a former population. The difference is that until the last 100 years, people accepted the new paradigm or were wiped out partially or completely. The Palestinians just won’t accept that they’ve lost land that will never be theirs again. Who knows, maybe 200 years from now Israel will belong to the descendants of current day Egyptians, but it won’t be in the hands of Palestinians in the next five generations. They can accept that and try to move on with what they have or they can continue to rise up and be crushed time and again. If they de-radicalize, other Arab states will actually allow Palestinians from the over populated Gaza strip to emigrate. As of now, no Arab state cares enough about them to risk letting any into their homelands.

The fact that people volunteer to help Ukraine at their own risk rather than for a pay check (the only way Russian can get both Russian and foreign fighters tells you all you need to know about the conflict).

And, sadly, he’s been half right. Aid was pretty subpar when it was at its best and now it’s dried up to nearly nothing. And people think / act like we’ve given Ukraine so much. Collective European aid less than .1% of GDP and US aid as a percentage of GDP is not even a rounding error, especially since most of what was given were old arms in the process of being destroyed or recycled and were paid for 40 years ago.

Who knows with the West. At the pace we’re going, we might end up giving them to Putin instead of the 🇺🇦. Without the FAB gliders, Russia’s got nothing. So, actually delivering the F-16s and the PATRIOTS we in the West have announced multiple times to keep getting credit over and over would be great. Hell, the West won’t even respond to them running amok in our own countries conducting hybrid warfare.

You must not have been paying attention because Wilson advocated the exact opposite of choosing sides. He said he needs to work with both sides (because you don’t want one want side to perceive you as favoring the other party). He also did not say Zelensky should get involved in American politics itself (a poisoned chalice if there ever was one). He said that Zelensky should communicate Ukraine’s emotive story to the public. Everyone loves an underdog. Wilson himself says he is outside the mainstream of Republicans in the US. However, he knows what the mainstream as well as the extremes of the party want, how they communicate, etc.

McCarthy hates Trump, but Trump wields populist support and MM will resist him just as much as he dares. MM is actually more evil than DJT who is really just a run of the mill con artist/narcissist who is focused on two things only: enriching himself and being praised by millions of people. While less fundamentally evil, DJT is much more harmful because he has the power to change the electorate itself in a terrible way. Mitch can only achieve his sick ends through legislation where he doesn’t even have a free hand. If Mitch had Trump’s popularity, the US would be ruined by now because he knows how to operate all the levers of power within government and legislation, which requires a tremendous amount of experience, knowledge and effort.

Come on, buddy. #1: Kadyrov is a fool, but not such a fool he thinks he could ever seize the Kremlin. Even in utter chaos, Russians, let alone the elites, would never allow a Muslim let alone a Chechen. However, Putin has clearly lost control of Kadyrov who largely withholds his army from the fight and whose people flout his authority. #2: Contrary to hopes (including mine), there is currently no serious threat to Putin’s power. It is true that this could change quickly as authoritarian regimes are brittle and when they unravel it often happens seemingly all at once. If Russia is dumb enough to try a large offensive (I think they’ll confine any big push to Donetsk) and lose big time, something in the system might snap and cost Putin his head. #3: Shoigu has little reason to be terrified of Prigozhin who has recently been warned by Putin to tone it down. Putin doesn’t want anyone to have too much power and counts loyalty above everything and Shoigu has been very loyal and is among Putin’s most trusted allies.
