There’s no way to defend the steppe in southern Kherson besides right alongside the river since there no natural formations or cities on the interior. Best of all, it’s all desert and sandstone because the ground only gets FIRMER when wet.

After a smaller skyscraper on Ontario, she worked in the Standard Oil Building (later Aon Center) on the 65th floor. It’s the huge white skyscraper on the right you see when they pan over the loop from the lakeside (edit: look@6:30). I used to love to visit her in the office because there was always so much stuff I could take (client products). I would later work on the 66th floor and I hated the feeling you would get if you looked straight down for too long. The building also swayed a lot in violent winds, but I got so many beautiful pictures from up there.

And since then SO, SO many systems, including TCAS, RIMCAS, CRM training, startle training, etc. has reduced the chances of dying to more than one-in-a-billion. Now, it takes so many things passing through the “Swiss cheese accident model” for an accident to occur (that is, basically, it requires many mistakes, unlikely events and/or technical malfunctions to all combine to produce an accident).

  31. Until it’s confirmed by multiple soldiers/people on the ground, I’d hold back on being sure about this. War is a dynamic place. Even if there are Russian completely around them, it doesn’t mean they’re trapped if some of the perimeter is lightly manned. You can use precision artillery support to keep enemies to only one side while performing exfil.

Obviously, overwhelming numbers seems to be a big part and they’ve got a lot of high ground now.   48. I think it’s fair to say that no one in Belarus believed there would ever be anything even resembling a real election again in 2020. So, unless there is an internal coup or a mass revolt, Belarusian leadership is frozen until his death. Then we’ll see if his son can hang onto power. Belarusians are much less meek and kowtowed than Russians. So, that will be a much harder task.

That’s why it’s so hard when they’ve been old for a long time to lose them. I had a dog named Moose who lived to 23. Her brother (actual brother) made it to 17). Men always dying first. lol Anyway, I cried for every cat, dog and rehab animal I’ve ever taken care when they passed or went back to the wild, but when Moose passed, I wept on and off like a little child for two weeks after losing her because we were so close. I could tell what she was going to do just by a change in atmosphere in the room. She looked like baby yoda. An odd little head with ears almost as big as her family. One of my current chiweenies is blind. Makes him even more adorable.

To me, even then, all of this should have been predictable for anyone with intelligence and who had experience (or know about) a decent cross section of professions. And it was. There are thousands of people who predicted the same developments even much earlier when the internet was only for hardcore computing geeks/mostly tech professionals.
