  2. rohan5 9 Sikhism was not formed to fight anything, it developed from a spiritual leader whose teachings spread to millions, just like any religion. There is an element of Sikhism dedicated to protecting the weak and fighting in battles- not against Islam or Afghans or Hindus in particular. Had Sikhism emerged in Europe people would say it was formed to fight Catholics and pagans!

Philotas son of Parmenion even allegedly tried to kill Alexander at one point. The Macedonians started grumbling after they left the Persian Empire's border, where the world turned alien to them and seemed to get worse and worse. The news that eastwards lay an empire that was pretty much Persia x 2 horrified the generals and they finally decided to confront Alexander. It was certainly not a single revolt. Alexander even sent home men who had served 25 years in the phalanx.
