  1. Sokka was never a moron to begin with, he merely developed as a character and gained skills over time. A moron hidden badass would be Varrick, who was a cowardly villain in book 2 but became a somewhat courageous genius inventor in book 3.

  2. Actually it only applies to Usopp and Chopper. The Monster Trio are powerful regardless of how moronic they are and Franky is a bleeding cyborg. In fact Usopp is the only one who graduates from feeble weakling to brave hero.
