That's incorrect u can't watch any TV live be it cnn or other foreign tv, on tv of a device it means sky, BT, Virgin and freesat, freeview need the licence, live TV broadcast on YouTube, live events on Netflix amazon, itvx and similar ie all classed as live broadcast

Just had tvl letter 3 data ago asking me if I still class as unlicensed and did it online, normally I call, online gets a bit more confusing and kept making errors, with them saying I need licence, then I saw where I was going wrong, and made my answes correct for no licence needed Then after that I made an error aboiut no one living at this address, again eventually got it right and tvl later confirmed my no licence status and number again

@localbod but seems tvl are now updating non licensed adress every year not 2 years as previous, not a major issue but online is a pain at times I prefer to call them but my letter has arrived on a, Saturday so I went online and made at first mistakes

Actually yes seems he said live streams not broadcast tv live, yes so ringway live, bbb, auditors, news citizen journalism live etc are no licence, as indeed news print media who do cover majors things live at times, but an actual tv broadcaster showing stuff from there studio at sane time, ok maybe a few seconds differance but I'd classed live TV broadcast links, and no matter where from, a licence neded Of course u can just say what you want of say nothing and take chances, but I honest don't watch watch live TV broadcast on any device

Not same in uk, radio broadcast u don't neeed licence and we can have tv but it's watching live TV that means we need licence and I don't so don't have a licence

Geoff is correct as long as you don't use tv, or tablet, pc, phone to watch live broadcast tv then you can be unlicensed

Supposed to be every 2 years updated, I updated them February this year and have a physical non license, so odd they asked so soon again but all done

I don't class retailers licence information stopping 2013 as recent, the law has changed allowing for anyone to have a tv, so asking retailers become redundant and also retailers fought against this as well

No they don't, they stopped that years ago, they didn't buy them, at the time retailers were 9nlifedvto collect the info, but since 2013 that's not the case as tgete4es no law on owning and needing a licence, so it woukd be pointless collecting lots of information that diesnt mean u are breaking the law I can have 50 tvs, hundreds of devices and be watching things legally

@dieseldragon6756 ref YouTube if your watching live TV broadcast links on any platform then u still need licence, broadcast not amateur like ringway live, though cnn, bbc, itv, sky etc live at times and those need licence, but say mirror, telegraph, Washington Times ie newspaper with live events, no as they aren't broadcast links from the sutdio output live

@26KE185 hard to prove they go on trust most, that's why I tell tvl my situation tvs and smart TV and don't watch live TV broadcast or iPlayer on any device or tv, they have always so far acceoted that, yes they might pay a visit but I don't have tv set up with freeview nor any aerials, of course I coukd be watching live on devices, hopefully they'll carry on believing my statements to them

@localbod diesel and myself I think vv Basically said that, not broadcast media, that needs licence be it cnn or sky, but as well as private individual u can watch nyt, telegraph, mirror live etc and they are not not broadcast media but orint media with lice content on big news stories

8 haven't had a license several years I don't watch the live TV, use bbc iPlayer on any device so I am non licensed adress
