The interesting thing is how your wage stays the same (mine FELL in my last job), but your responsibility grows hugely. I went from bumbling along on my own to running 2 or 3 others and making LESS THAN I did at the start and less than my sidekicks were making. And then the dumbasses wonder why you quit. Finding out my sidekicks were on more than me was the final insult.

Lloyetta it starts with the company screwing you on pay and promoting incompetent brown noses. Then getting a lecture that you ABSOLUTELY CAN'T let them down but if your pay is wrong or holiday hours disappear they'll take their time to fix it after arguing that you're wrong. I saw one guy lose 10 days holiday from his payslip because they didn't want to give him time off.

He had colon cancer and was a euthanasia advocate and that's how he died.

We're STILL NOT at a paperless office. When I signed up with a huge corporation a month ago there was plenty to sign and papers to go thru for the induction that are still in the back of my car. NEEEVVEERRR going to be fully "paperless".

Yeah. It STARTS WITH the company giving a crap AND HAVING realistic quotas. Let's see..... i know a place with sky high quotas where guys who are IN THE UNION and have been there over 10 years can AND DO get sacked easily. I'm on the line and I'm looking at the stuff going by that my fellow workmates have done waiting for a gap to push my stuff on and I'm shaking my head at the piss poor quality. But often it gets passed by quality control ANYWAY..... my uncle used to say that people gove a shit about the job and want to help improve things for the first month BUT THEN their ideas and suggestions are ignored and before you know it it's just "so what it's only an XYZ" or "it's just a job". I feel a bit sad for the end user. That's why when I was building intercoolers my accepted quality was ABOVE THE COMPANY SPECS because no truck driver needs a sh!t day or stuck on the roadside because I saved 30 seconds....

It's older than me and I'm 43, amongst the oldest at my work. Older than all my direct bosses.

We had a school guidance counsellor we were all supposed to see. I never did. It was all "you'll be an employee, or a tradesperson". nothing else. EVER. no entrepreneur, nothing he didn't already have a pamphlet for. I never went and saw him. didn't want to hear his dismal world views that we will all be clones in a communism like world, so hurry up and take your pamphlet of whatever you are gonna be. I am still yet to use 97% of all the maths I was taught, although I used to get 95%-100% on some of the tests.

@Supadrumma441 VERY true. I worked over 80 hours a week to see hours disappear from my pay, 401K go unpaid, and then get the flick like I never mattered anyway.
