  6. This is pork neck. He was talking about it being very poor at the start. Coz boiled it's almost inedible. The parsley wouldn't have enhanced it too much. Roast however it's INCREDIBLY good. It will be the best stuff you've eaten all year. I got a heap of pork necks during the pandemic.

  9. Truth is, they should've worked on slowly building a long line of them. Instead of fast cheap multistorey construction, a mile of well built terraced housing over more years. I mean in Australia, terraced housing looks like hell but we're in decent sized suburban blocks for the most part. Personally I'm on a 50 acre farm with essentially no neighbours except my parents 800 meters away

  10. Nice to see the border collie there. The dog of the region. My family originated from down south. Crazy thing is in my area in Australia, MOST FAMILIES come from the same area. There's a family down the hill from me that we were friends with IN ENGLAND for generations.

  13. It's pork neck. I bought several direct from an abattoir during lockdown. You boil them they're the worst pork you've ever had, worse than chicken breast. You roast them it's the best thing you've eaten IN YEARS. When he said at the start it was considered poor meat, that's because they were boiled. And boiled they are just something to eat, terribly bland and not enjoyable.

  17. Digging coal BY HAND was NEVER going to be profitable compared to the coal imported from Australia. You SEEN the Australian coal mines? They're open pit, 100% machine operated and KILOMETRES wide. I have driven past many of them. One area I drive past every year or two has a seam 100 METERS THICK.

  21. There was A BLACK MARKET for the good food. In England as well as Australia. You had to PAY FOR these rationed food, and you got NO MUCH food but it was only to ensure NOONE starved. But don't think you ACTUALLY got a decent amount. It would be considered prison level rations and most Americans would've called it starvation rations because it was likely A QUARTER of what the average fat American eats

  25. It's not OBDII it's more like that crappy thing that junky little chev had in the mid 70s (chev chevelle?). A few sensors going to a "computer" that was a tiny thing probably with a few switching transistors and a few lights in the dash. It had maybe 3 or 5 error lights.

  31. A lot of this stuff sounds EXACTLY like how my father grew up. I still have a copper sitting out with a bunch if building materials and 2 of those "flash heaters", water heaters that give you barely enough to wash the dishes and are run by lighting a bunch of sticks. Later ones or city ones used gas. One of mine has the cast iron grate in it so it was a wood one. Had something like 8 kerosene fridges here with asbestos insulation in them.

  35. NO BIG DEAL if you're A REAL off-gridder. I experimented with wood gasification years ago. My relatives used THIS EXACT technology in WW2 as did QUITE A LOT of people in Australia.

  38. My great grandmother didn't see the point in electricity when my grandparents got it in 1953. My dad remembers the first electric lighting, you could suddenly see how dusty and dirty it was inside the rooms. My great grandmother would say "what do you need lights for, we have candles for that". The other one was "what do we need an electric stove for, we have a wood stove for that". The wood stove made it SO LONG to get breakfast, and my grandfather would boil this huge aluminium kettle to fill a thermos so he could have cups of tea without needing to relight the stove. My uncle was mad on drinking tea, and would often have 2 full in the late 90s and early 2000s. I was even given new ones as a gift and have multiple here.

  48. Well do you know the Australian government, particularly the Victorian government, 3 TIMES NOW has tried to charge farmers for their rainwater?!! The attitude is like as though our farms are covered in plastic film, every DROP that we store in dams/ponds is one drop STOLEN from water catchment. It is like they can't even comprehend that the SOIL soaks up water. Like I said, 3 TIMES they've tried this crap. Just in case farming isn't a near bankrupt industry to begin with.... owning a farm I can confirm there's no money in farming. Not even with 1000 acres.

  49. You realise that A LOT of lettuce in supermarket has only been "washed" by the irrigation system? Many haven't been washed at all. I find bugs and occasional dirt down in the lower parts
