100% those buggers KNEW it was failing and passed it off onto him. Talk about getting screwed.

My mechanic was telling me the ones we have in Australia, England and africa, they had one timing chain as the original block design had but increased compression, turbo and all this other crap and the chain would break. So someone made a dual chain aftermarket one where you just add an extra chain to run 2 chains and it was strong enough. VERY NEXT MODEL they changed the POSITIONING of everything and stuck with the one chain so now that aftermarket fix WOULDN'T FIT. Ever since renault bought up 45% of them in the early 2000s, EVERYTHING has gone to crap with them. Same model was commonly getting chassis cracks as well

When they build front wheel drive passenger cars, that's USUALLY how they do it but in reverse. Bring the engine and transaxle up from underneath with the driveshafts hanging down then put the wheels and suspension components on after guiding the axles and wheels together

Those buggers SOLD IT KNOWING the head gasket was ALREADY FAILING.

Tbh, Chrysler entered the Australian market TWICE and got bought out by Mitsubishi the first time, now on their second time they've pushed around customers SO BADLY it's sheer luck that our government hasn't shut thrm down. They get barely ANY sales here, I think you can only buy jeeps now. And very few people even get them but I know of a dealer. They stopped selling the vans a few years ago because they were such lemons. If jeep goes, it's the SECOND time they've failed in Australia. We have the dodge ram now for like the last 2 years but but it's so expensive and big for our size roads that there's very few out there. There's a few chrysler 300C around but they're rare and when they sold a lot they had to drop them to PEANUTS prices to even get sales. Like tiny econobox car prices. I remember in 2008 they had the diesel 300 going for equivalent of about US$18,000 NEW because noone was buying. A carolla cost more at the time.

That's the boomer dream. Because they haven't seen the train wreck that is the modern dating scene.

That's all NORMAL intervals for older cars even early 2000s with maybe another 2000 miles more on the oil

Theu buy it because of IMAGE and associated status. My sister and husband had an OLDER late 90s land rover back in like 2014. I remember I worked at a place building truck radiators and in the lunch room we had this trucking newspaper every month. The parts cost FOR SEMIS was the SAME for the landrover. I knew because she had to do a starter and alternator and I remembered the big rig prices were AU800-950. And so were the land rover ones

And THEN you hear the "these toyotas are rubbish, I'm never buying another one". Then they get a kia....

@mplslawnguy3389 BMW has this. You gotta mess with a little tab on the indicators to go thru a menu and then it tells you the oil level on the SCREEN that is renowned for dying after 10 or 12 years.

@Moneychain2you charge $400 when the PARTS ALONE were $800. Sure...

Boomers are obsessed with everyone getting married. With ZERO clue of the quality of girls out there these days. I'm not short on a few dollars and still single

What you SHOULD'VE done is say "Oh well it's only $50 thousand for an engine change when it burns out from low oil. I mean that's PEANUTS compared to these jets at work". Then watch the stunned backpedalling look.

@kasper-jw2441 which WOULDN'T have any coolant in it because it didn't have blow-by. Wrong fluids. Head gasket is between coolant and air/fuel mixture or exhaust.

Spanish is pretty easy after a while. I'm in Victoria and a Colombian joined the family so I started to learn.
