  1. It's not Ukraine any more. There is no government and the borders are disputed. It's a free zone now. UN also has no official stance on it and nobody declared war on anybody in that armed conflict. There is a real government, of Russia, battling against an illegal military junta at its borders that wants to control a territory illegally. It's the illegal fight of the Zelensky junta now.

Kiev has shelled the civilians of the Donbas from 2014 - 2024 (and kills civilians in Kursk now also). The Donbas area is not Ukraine any more but it's in the RF now. The Kiev military junta regime is in fact the intruder now.

Russia tolerating Kursk *but still in control) is as I see it a strategic way to get hold of all of the territory of those new republics, on which territory Ukraine is actually the invasive entity.
