  1. The Russian bases are still there. So let's see what role they (can) play. Didn't Israel also bomb the attack capabilities besides defense. Or even the other way around than you say so only weapons and ammo depots and airfields (which is not exactly the defense branch)? To me it looks more like containing USA's 'moderate rebels' and that could be part of the deal as well. They keep being mercenaries and will have to be paid large sums of money. Will USA maintain that? Not sure if this was the end goal, how it turned out now.
